Freedom didn’t reach every enslaved community at the same time. Juneteenth marks the moment in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Texas and announced that freedom had finally come. The news changed lives that day and shaped generations that followed. Local celebrations grew into a national recognition of resilience and progress. Juneteenth invites everyone to understand the past a little better and appreciate the strength that carried people forward.

Everyone can have off days, even the ones who act like they don't. Give yourself a break. When you treat yourself with understanding rather than judgment, it eases stress and reminds you what really matters.

Cutting yourself some slack actually trains your brain to handle tough moments better and supports both your mental and physical health.

What’s the memory you rewind most often? ⏪

Everyone’s got one. A summer night. A dance. A conversation.

It plays again and again—and you let it, every time. What’s yours?

Guardianship is one way to support an adult who can no longer make important decisions on their own. A court may appoint someone to help with areas like medical care, personal safety, or finances. Power of attorney works differently because the person must understand the decision and agree to it. Guardianship is typically only considered when that understanding is no longer there.

If you’ve had to let go of a home before you were ready, what helped soften the edges of that change?

Let’s hold space for each other’s stories here.

Death certificates usually arrive within 1-4 weeks after filing. Sometimes faster, sometimes longer if there are complications.

While you're waiting, you can start making a list of accounts that need to be closed and which ones require original copies versus scanned versions. Your funeral director can check on delays and help if there are any mistakes on the certificate.
