Go, Set, Ready!
One of my favorite devotional books is “Draw the Circle” By Mark Batterman. In this book he give excellent leadership principles that apply so well to our careers and businesses. One of the chapters is entitled Go, Set, Ready. He suggests that instead of the old phrase Ready, Set, Go there are times we should reverse that order.

Let me give you an example. Who at the beginning of the pandemic realized we were in for a major shift and for a fleeting thought that you should invest in Zoom, Amazon, Microsoft or maybe Spartan Nash? Did you act on it? Me neither! Shoulda, woulda, coulda!

Are you hanging on to an idea for just the right moment? Trust me it will never come! “Right moments” are fleeting or never happen. So, does that mean we are to live in the moment and act on every idea? I not suggesting that either. If I would have done that over my career it would not been a good thing. But if it is a solid idea or will move you in a positive direction the time is now!

Paul Martinelli the former president of the John Maxwell Team used to say “Jump off the cliff and grow your wings on the way down”. Sometimes we need that little shove and just go! Once we are moving you may realize you were “set” all along and as time passes discover you were ready all along!
