We are deeply saddened by the passing of Sister Barbara Hansen on Sunday, July 19.

Sister Barbara was a major part of GRCMC’s history and legacy. As our Community Outreach Coordinator, she used media to strengthen nonprofit organizations, share stories that mattered, and connect people with resources throughout our community.

She created and hosted programs including *NPO Showcase*, *Focus on Issues*, and *Weekly View*, giving hundreds of local nonprofits an opportunity to explain their missions, discuss important community concerns, and reach a wider audience. She also produced more than 60 reflections for GRTV, helped nonprofit organizations develop their own programming, and co-hosted *City Connection* with Mayor George Heartwell.

Sister Barbara brought extraordinary intelligence, integrity, compassion, faith, and determination to everything she did. Her work helped establish GRCMC as a vital resource for local nonprofit organizations, and her impact continues through the countless people and causes she supported.

We invite you to remember Sister Barbara by watching her farewell episode of *NPO Showcase*:

Her services will be held Monday, July 27, at Marywood Chapel of the Word, 111 Lakeside Drive NE in Grand Rapids.

Remembering Service: 9:00 a.m.
Funeral: 10:30 a.m.

All are welcome to attend.

The film follows Goodman's remarkable career—from war zones and protests to the daily broadcast of Democracy Now!—and explores the vital role independent journalism plays in a healthy democracy.
