The program is designed to help prepare teens for the future by learning how to build self confidence and social capital, make good choices, and be effective in teamwork to achieve success in life and work. TeenWorks provides services in the following areas:
¨ WORKING: learn how to prepare for and secure a job, develop a resume and electronic portfolio, practice interviewing and work readiness sk
ills, become a better communicator, explore career interests, set education and career goals, and create your plan for success
¨ INNOVATING: understand what it takes to be a business owner, learn how to create your own opportunities and capitalize on them, learn strategies for working under pressure, and become a manager of your time
¨ CONNECTING: practice networking with employers, learn to be a workplace team player, understand how to work with different people, and learn how you are connected to the community and the world
¨ LEADING: develop your leadership skills and sense of purpose, practice being responsible for your own future, and explore opportunities to volunteer in the community and at school
¨ CHOOSING: learn to make good choices that affect your life, understand how using drugs/criminal behavior/credit rating affects employment, and discover ways to manage your paycheck
