Juneteenth is a time to honor history, celebrate culture, and come together as a community.
In Grand Rapids, the heart of the celebration happens on June 19, with events earlier in the week kicking things off.

🎉 Juneteenth Solidarity Parade & Celebration – June 19
The parade kicks off at noon on Eastern Ave. SE and leads to Dickinson Buffer Park, where the celebration continues from 1–7 pm with music, food, and community connection.

🎶 Justice 4 All Juneteenth Jam – June 19 (pictured)
Head to the Grand Rapids African American Museum & Archives for live performances, art, kids’ activities, and Black‑owned food and business vendors, 4–8 pm.

The celebration spans the whole week, too, with events like:

🎨 Self‑Guided Black Art & Mural Tours – Anytime
Spend the day exploring public art by and honoring African Americans, from Center City and Heartside murals to the RAD Women electrical boxes and the Southtown Mural Tour, which highlights the 49507 Project.

🏛️ Grand Rapids African American Museum & Archives – Thurs. through Sat.
Visit the museum honoring the lives, history, and culture of local African Americans. GRAAMA’s new downtown space offers expanded room for permanent exhibits and traveling collections.

✈️ AIM HIGH: African American Aviators – Now through Sept 5
Explore the history and impact of Black pilots at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, including the Tuskegee Airmen and Black Wings, American Dreams of Flight.

🎤 Rock the Block: Unplugged – June 13
Family‑friendly activities, local vendors, and community resources in Southtown GR.

🎺 Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue – June 15
Meijer Gardens’ summer concert series brings a high‑energy blend of funk, soul, R&B, and rock to the stage.

🖼️ Black History 101 Mobile Museum – June 17
For one day only, the nation’s premier traveling Black history exhibit stops at the Grand Rapids Public Library, featuring 7,000+ artifacts spanning from the trans‑Atlantic slave trade to hip‑hop culture.

🎬 BlacKkKlansman at Wealthy Theatre – June 16
A Spike Lee joint inspired by true events, shown one night only.

Bizarre Bazaar will be returning to Ethel Street on Saturday, June 20 from 10am-7pm. Join us for Eastown’s annual celebration of the best local arts and crafts with family friendly activities, entertainment, food, and a craft beer tent.

Also, the Kids’ Bazaar is back! Come check out our young entrepreneurs in Eastown.

Yes, love is in full bloom at Campus Elementary. Campus recently celebrated staff members who have gotten married and those with upcoming summer weddings with a special wedding shower.

Congratulations are in order for Mr. Vanwienen, the gym teacher, who was married on May 15. Congratulations also to Miss Roberts, a resource teacher, Miss James, a first-grade teacher, and Miss Pikaart, a second-grade teacher, all of whom will be getting married this summer.👏🏼👏🏼🎊🎉💐
