Meet the Teacher: Hello, Ms. Shelli! 👋🏽👋🏼👋🏿

We love our teachers and we hope you do, too! Learn a little more about Ms. Shelli, who teaches on Wednesdays at 9:15a, 10:30a, and 5:30p at the Blackport Building:

"Shelli Fynewever has been singing and making music with her family and friends since she was a very small child in the suburbs of Chicago, harmonizing at home, at church or around the campfire. Growing up playing piano and singing in any choir she could, Shelli’s spirit has always soared when making music with a group. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Education, Theatre, English and Vocal Music from Calvin University, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal and then completed her Master’s in Theatre at the University of Illinois-Chicago. In her 20s she taught Drama at Emmaus Catholic College in Sydney, Australia—such a beautiful country! Her first experience with music classes for young children was doing Kindermusik with her own (now adult) kids a decade or more ago in California. Living in Grand Rapids, Shelli has loved leading worship and directing the Gospel choir at Madison Square Church, and she heads up the dance ministry there. Shelli has been the worship coordinator at Living Stones Academy, has served as the vocal director for middle school musicals at Grand Rapids Christian school. She is thrilled when she gets to make music with her husband and three adult children who are now all multi-instrumentalists. What a joy to join the teachers at Music Together—feels like she’s been preparing for this beautiful experience her whole life!"
