At the start of May students from all grades shared Fine Arts Night with the community. There was a student art gallery along with choral and guitar performances and then individual and small group acts. It was an amazing evening celebrating a variety of art and we are so thankful for the time and talents that were shared. We want to especially thank Ms. Andrea Boyd, Ms. Natalie Mouw, Mr. Dean Wiers-Windemuller, Ms. Anne Poortenga, and Ms. Stephanie Sneller for their directing.

What happens when a Latin teacher and a math teacher combine their classes for a feast? You wind up with the Pie’ds of March! This annual mash-up brings together the Ides of March and Pi Day in a hysterical and tasty new twist. Mr. F’s students (metaphorically) stab him in the back by concocting “unusual” pie flavors for him. This year’s worst pie featured such ingredients as lutefisk, prahok, kusaya, and other fermented seafoods.
Luckily for Mr. F. all the backstabbing pies were simply conceptual, and Magistra Tellinghuisen baked a variety of pies with more traditional flavors for students to enjoy.

Feast Days are often happening in our classrooms as students dive into history and geography. Recently, Mrs. Hultink’s and Mrs. Bodine’s classes had feasts to wrap up their units on Africa and Asia.
Students were all assigned a different nation to research, including a recipe to prepare and then share with their classmates and special guests. Students also heard from parents, staff, and friends who have lived abroad in Morrocco, Cameroon, China, and the Philippines.
Here are some highlights from their feast days!
