A huge shout out to SparkPath's founder, JP Michel for sharing a quote from Michael Springerโ€™s book, The Untethered Soul, with the world a few months back: โ€œI am not the voices I hear, I am the one who hears the voices.โ€ This quote intrigued me enough to check out the book and WHOA has it given me tools to complete my and . The Untethered Soul is helping me to of my hardwiring to be other-centered and design my own identity. Have you read The Untethered Soul? What tools do you use from the book? Other-centeredness Definition: A tendency to put others' interests ahead of one's own. Ryan Byerly, Researcher, Sheffield University

I also add that other-centeredness is a way to avoid embracing ones own identity by focusing their attention on others to โ€œfeelโ€ like it is their identity. Today my is of my propensity to be other-centered. Take a peek to see how this epiphany fell on me like a ton of bricks. Are you releasing stuff this month so you can ? Yesterday I talked about of my need to be a part of the "cool crowd". A few days ago, I also mentioned how I have avoided doing the work I needed to around . Mark Manson's book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck rocked my world a few months backโ€ฆ in a very good yet โ€œoh snapโ€ way. The way Mark talks about our value system was a complete mindf*ck for me; I had to wrestle with what it revealed. I realized a lot of my daily life decisions, until now, were being made by my hard-wired internal :
- A need to be popular
- Seeking to be viewed prominently
- A deep desire to avoid upsetting people or the applecart
- Fear of rejection

Have you read The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck? Share with me what you thought of the book!

I internalized a message in the 7th grade that I recently realized has driven me to seek out being viewed as โ€œcool.โ€ Tomorrow Iโ€™ll share the resource that helped me realize this I have been carrying. My niece came up with the term, , for the letting go activities we are doing this month - I love the term! I believe in giving credit where it is due. This activity is the brainchild of one of favorite humans, one of my therapy partners, Audrey Mitchell, Grand Rapids Specialty Therapy. She gave it to me as homework several months ago but I avoided the work, instead creating a workshop around it. Although contradictory, holding onto our psychological junk provides us some security. I am doing the work this month and WOW is it cathartic! I probably have 30 index cards of things I have been holding onto for years that I have placed in my shame box... regrets, shame, humiliations, and fears. WHAT ARE YOU LETTING GO OF THIS MONTH SO YOU CAN WALK INTO 2023 LIKE A BOSS?
