I had the privilege of attending the AACN Academic Nurse Leadership Conference in Washington DC with my amazing colleagues from Calvin, AdAdejoke Ayooland CaCarol Lynn Rossmannd 800 nurse leaders from across the US. We shared best practices in nursing education and innovative strategies for addressing the challenges in front of us.

Cross-Cultural Medicine in Nepal - A week at the Tansen Mission Hospital.

It has been wonderful to see our Nursing students engage in the various wards at the hospital and learn about care (compassion, assistance, respect and empathy) and a willingness to learn from others (Nepali Nurses and nursing students) as well as observing natural births (without an epidural), and getting an exposure to med-surge. The nursing students also got to teach a 2-hour class to Nepali 2nd year nursing students on head-to-toe assessments. Here are a few pics from the hospitals and a cultural exchange event we had at the Nursing school.

Calvin University junior women's basketball player Valerie Dirkse was named to the Women's College Academic-Athletic All-State Team by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM).
