We’ve been busy preparing for an amazing year and can’t wait to welcome our students back. Join us for Sneak-a-Peek this Thursday from 6:00–7:30 PM to meet your teachers and get ready for a fantastic year ahead!

Applications for free and reduced-price meals are now available! 👏

Starting today, you can make a big impact at your student’s campus. Completing the free and reduced-price meals application helps secure state and federal funding that supports our classrooms, technology, student programs, and extracurricular activities.

🚨 As a reminder, this application MUST be renewed every school year,🚨 or benefits will stop after 30 days of the school year. Also, students not participating in the free and reduced-price meal program will be required to pay for meals.

We encourage all GPISD families to submit an application even if you think you may not qualify. To apply now and/or check the status of your application, visit https://www.gpisd.org/freemeals.

Every submission helps protect funding that benefits all GPISD students and may provide access to additional benefits, including:
* Free or reduced-price meals
* After-school academic and enrichment programs
* Additional school resources and technology support.

These meals are a good source of nutrition, helping students stay healthy and ready to learn.

SHG Students Shine at the Mott Million Dollar Challenge!

We are thrilled to celebrate our incredible student entrepreneurs who earned national recognition at the Mott Million Dollar Challenge!

SHG 8th graders, Azfar Ali and Jeremiah Hurd were named National Finalists and awarded $10,000 for PlayMetrics, a smart tracking technology and analytics platform that helps student-athletes unlock their full potential using data and insights similar to those available to professional sports teams.

SHG 5th grader, Grace Kennedy, and former SHG student, 8th grader, Henry Kennedy also earned $10,000 for Rip Drone, an innovative water safety solution featuring wristbands that detect swimmers caught in riptides and communicate with a drone that delivers retrieval equipment to help bring them safely back to shore.

SHG 3rd grader, Joshua Gagakuma and SHG 4th grader, Yahshua Gagakuma, received the Business Challenge People’s Choice Award ($2500) for Double D 4000, an organizational folder designed to support students with ADHD through daily planners, color-coded tracking systems, a built-in whiteboard, and other tools that help students stay organized, calm, and successful.

The Mott Million Dollar Challenge is one of the nation's largest student innovation competitions. This year, more than 5,300 K–12 students from all 50 states and Washington, D.C. submitted over 3,700 business and social-impact ideas through video pitches. After multiple rounds of judging by hundreds of volunteer experts, the field was narrowed to the top 60 student teams who advanced to semifinal and final-round competitions in Flint, Michigan.

The challenge recognizes outstanding student-created business ventures and social solutions across multiple grade levels. Finalists receive national recognition and cash awards to help further develop their ideas, while People’s Choice winners are selected through public voting.

The award-winning ideas showcased the creativity, innovation, and problem-solving abilities of students across the country, from cutting-edge technologies and entrepreneurial ventures to solutions designed to improve schools, strengthen communities, and address real-world challenges.

Congratulations to these outstanding SHG students for representing our school and GPISD with excellence, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit!

What an incredible week at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta!

Our 13 national competitors represented SHG with excellence, bringing home five National Championships:

• Team Engineering Challenge – Dayana Aziz, Ryan Kunkel, and Elliot Moss – 1st Place
• Pin Design – Dahlia Nguyen – 1st Place
• Action Skills – Oliver Villanueva – 1st Place
• Extemporaneous Speaking – Zachary Gandy – 1st Place
• Job Demo A – Aaira Masood – 1st Place

These remarkable achievements reflect countless hours of preparation, perseverance, and passion. Our students continue to demonstrate what is possible when talent meets hard work.
