GRAND MARAIS TAVERN FOUNDERS THREE YEARS PRIOR TO THEM BUILDING IT! It was a typical 4, 16 hour road days back in 2013 when this photo was taken; selling advertising while delivering the Pilot. Not unlike countless times before, I would find myself rolling into town just before or just after 2 a.m. So several times, just to wind down, , I called the Dunes Saloon and asked them to have a Sandstone Pale Ale and a Basil Hayden poured because I may be a minute or two late. The drink was sitting on the bar one stool down from these rowdy guys that were shooting pool. I asked if I could get a photo of them and when they asked for what, they were all readers of the Great Lakes Pilot. After bringing in a copy of each of them they each shot pool with the paper rolled up and put in their back pockets There is much more to this story that will be included in our “Ten Year Anniversary” story in the Pilot’s next edition!
