If you are a friend of mine, there is a good chance that you have some deep contemplative questions. I know I did, and that I found the most important answers here:
Drum instruction Western, Colorado. African, Middle Eastern and Latin Percussion essentials. World B
I picked up my first drum, a hand made ceramic doumbec, in 1987. Now, after almost 30 years of study, practice and performance, I am ready to share my extensive world beat knowledge with others. Whether you are new to drumming and want to start on a solid foundation or if you've got it going on already and would like to take your percussive skills to the next level, I can help you in your rhythmic endeavor.

I just found this production I did four years ago, during the COVID 19 plandemic, for Colorado Mesa universities Open Studio Project.
Perhaps you will like it so I am posting it on my FB page now.

Whoop, there it is! Who is that handsome college graduate?
To be honest, I didn't expect to make it to 60 years of age. Today, I am grateful that I have.

On Friday, December 15 at 9:00 am, I did my commencement walk and was awarded a 5-year degree from Colorado Mesa University, in Grand Junction, CO. Bachelor of Music - with Essential Studies in Business. (Are you really talented and need a promoter?)
I've graduated with distinction, Cum Laud. It feels a little weird having letters after my name:

Ras Raqs has leveled up. Lessons cost more now. As do Performances and Studio Sessions. Since I know a lot more now, I've given myself a raise.

Komodon is the rhythm from Guinea, West Africa, that accompanies the Dance of the Crazy Man.
I've arranged a rendition for a special event at Colorado Mesa University. This Komodon solo was performed as the Invocation for the inaugural Prism concert, 7 stages, 108 musicians, 30+ performances in 99 minutes. It was pretty amazing.
If you would like to learn how to play Komodon, I can teach you in a private lesson, in person or on Zoom.
Enjoy Komodon

During Covid-19 students were sent home. CMU started up a Civic Forum featuring an Open Studio, for staff, faculty and students to contribute too. Here is the amateur video I took and donated:
