It's almost time for Grand Valley Audubon Society's annual Spring Bird Count! đŚ From May 13 through May 16, birders in Mesa County (that's you!) are encouraged to independently observe and record bird sightings via the eBird app from anywhere across the county.
GVAS has tracked observations during the Spring Bird Count since 1992. Long-time members may remember the structured, scheduled, county-wide coverage method we've utilized in the past, but in recent years we've adopted a more casual and flexible approach that allows the collected data to be utilized for science via eBird. Members who wish to keep their count area from years past are welcome to do so!
Questions about the Spring Bird Count? Contact Shannon Young at [email protected] or 970-260-1118.
Have you heard of BirdCast? This free website forecasts bird migrations using weather radar and bird data. Spring migration is happening now, so check it out for yourself at birdcast.org!
