🍎 🏆Congratulations to our April Golden Apple winner - Chelsey Garcia with Chipeta Elementary School.

Ms. Garcia is being nominated for the Golden Apple for the profound impact she has on her students. One student in her class entered fifth grade after struggling with undiagnosed dyslexia, which had made school increasingly overwhelming and discouraging. By the end of fourth grade, attending school had become a daily challenge.

Under Ms. Garcia’s guidance, that experience has completely transformed. In just the first half of the school year, the student made remarkable progress in both reading and math—growth that once felt out of reach.

Ms. Garcia’s patience, compassion, and dedication to each of her students create a supportive environment where children feel confident and capable. She is kind, communicative, and consistently brings positivity to her classroom, even on the most challenging days. Managing a classroom of 24 fifth graders is no small task, yet she does so with grace and heart.

Ms. Garcia exemplifies the very best qualities of an educator and sets a standard others can aspire to. Her impact reaches far beyond academics, changing students’ attitudes toward school and their belief in themselves.
