Helping people reach their highest goals while maintaining work life balance.

Even if you have ADHD, even if executive function disorders are creeping in while you work, you can still get to the point of accomplishment.

The first step is to recognize when it’s happening to you, and give yourself some compassion instead of judgement. It’s easier to start shaming yourself for forgetting something, or not following through, or procrastinating that thing you really thought you wanted to do.

But blame and shame won’t help you to get more done. And it certainly won’t help you to prioritize the most important things and make sure they get the attention they need.

Loving and trusting yourself enough to give yourself a break and give yourself some time to examine what you really want and to create a plan for getting what you want, is the great step in creating a system for success.

What do you think? Would you love a little down time to plan how to get what you want most from your life?

One of the biggest threats to your business can be getting overwhelmed with too much to do.

The thing is, sometimes it’s not that there is just too much, it’s that there is not a system for organizing your work, to make sure that what you choose to do at any time or day is actually the most important thing or that it’s being done in the most efficient way.

Creating systems means finding similar tasks and putting them together, so that you don’t have as much transition time while you continue in your day.

It means giving yourself permission to set aside things that seem urgent but are not really important in the moment, with a plan for when you can get back to that urgent task. Of course you know that truly urgent things, like someone needs to be taken to the hospital can’t wait, but making a good judgement call for urgent and important when you have a good organization system for your work.

First of all, why do you need systems? It’s so easy to run around doing all kinds of things but not feeling like you’re really getting the most things accomplished. If you don’t have a system, that’s when things get missed or you forget about them or you feel stressed out because you feel like there’s always too much to do and you’ll never get it all done.

The best way to reduce the stress of having too much to do, is having a system set in place to make sure that your highest priorities are being addressed first, and when they’re taken care of the other fun stuff is a lot more enjoyable.

This can be hard for someone with ADHD because you’re so easily distracted and you probably try to do more things than you should, or at least that’s what happens to me. But having systems in place can help you to get past the overthinking that leads to overwhelmed, and that actually prevents you from doing the things that you wanted to do and that you feel that you need to do.

Ok, I recognize that when I said it’s more likely to stick and least likely to be abandoned, that those are the same thing.

We all have goals but not everyone actually sees their goals through to completion. We may give up for any number of reasons. Sometimes it feels too hard.

Sometimes you get tired of it and you just decide to do something else or sometimes it’s just not fun anymore and you wanna do something that’s a little more interesting.

But ultimately if you have ADHD we really like to try new things rather than sticking out with something old. The novelty of something new is way more exciting and will always catch our interest more than trying to follow through with something that you’ve been doing for a while and is not so much fun anymore.

but if the overall goal is something you really want in your life learning a few tricks to help you to feel good about getting over the boring or hard parts. Such as learning ways to have fun along the way or to do something that helps you to get that little dopamine hit of accomplishing something that was hard, will help you to actually achieve those big goals that you’ve been dreaming that you could have in your life.

Why does it seem like we work the hardest when we’ve waited until the last minute? That urgency motivator can be really powerful. I don’t even 🤔 think it is unique to adhd people.

When you find yourself rushing through the day, trying to get more done so you don’t fall even further behind that stress that you’re feeling is actually making things worse.

when you’re under stress, that’s when your brain gets rid of those thoughts that you were trying to remember, your forgetfulness gets worse, and then you stress out even more. The other executive functions will also go off-line when you’re so stressed out that you’re nervous system only wants to keep you alive. It doesn’t want to help you get things accomplished.

Once you recognize that there is nothing wrong with you, if you can’t make a system work that is just not meant for a creative ADHD brain, and you start to cut yourself some slack, you start to recognize the type of freedom that allows you to be yourself.

Just because you do things a little different doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

With a little help you can create a new system that works exactly with how your 🧠 brain excels. Suddenly it will be easier to accomplish the things you’ve been putting off and you will enjoy your life so much more.
