The 25th Annual Western Colorado Senior Games, taking place August 17–23, 2026. Adults ages 50 and better are invited to participate in a weeklong competition featuring a variety of events, including basketball, billiards, card games, horseshoes, pickleball, a 5K walk or run, disc golf, and more at facilities throughout the Grand Valley.

Midday with New Dimensions offers a one-hour lecture titled Lessons from Other Developed Democracies presented by Dr. Holly Oberle at the Mesa County Clifton Library, 3270 D 1/2 Rd, at noon, on Thursday, July 9. Dr. Oberle is Assistant Professor of Political Science at Colorado Mesa University teaching courses in the fields of International Relations, Comparative Politics, Foreign Policy Analysis, Gender and Politics, and International Studies

Holly will describe features of other developed democracies that could help the United States realize a "most perfect union". She will discuss some of these compelling political, economic and social structures in these countries that address the most pressing issues facing us today

Midday with New Dimensions is a partnership between Mesa County Libraries and New Dimensions Lifelong Learning, offering free public lectures. Seating is first come, first served. A few pictures of the installation of a 150’ flagpole at CMU this morning. Though it was hard to get a picture through the chain link, the pole was brought in by the pickup and trailer in the first photo. There was a big space between the truck and trailer. There’s a picture of the knots used to secure it to the crane. There’s 2 pictures of the pole itself. One from a block away and one up close using the panorama feature on my phone. You might have to click on the panorama picture to see the whole photo.

The Colorado Archeological Society’s monthly meeting and educational program is tomorrow, 6/24, at 6:30 pm at the Redlands United Methodist Church, 527 Village Way. The guest speaker is Lucinda Schroeder, retired Special Agent for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The presentation, titled Operation Monster Slayer, the Recovery of Sacred American Indian Artifacts, covers the investigation and recovery of artifacts sacred to prehistoric Native Americans.

Join our 500-piece puzzle tournament from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 13 at the Gateway Branch Library for team teams up to 6 people. Not competing? Bring a puzzle and swap it with others. Enjoy a light snack or help kids complete a puzzle craft. First come, first served. All ages welcome.

Join us from noon–1 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Central Library to explore the Red Mountain Mining District and learn how the narrow-gauge Silverton train overcame steep grades, sharp curves, and 11,000-foot passes to reach and serve remote mining communities. Seating is first-come, first-served.

Treat yourself to a picnic and some stargazing! At this point in time skies are predicted to be clear.

Colorado National Monument Public Viewing Night and Star Party
Join the Western Colorado Astronomy Club for a public night and “star party.” Bring your binoculars and telescope if you have them. Club volunteers will share their equipment and expertise on the night skies.
