Independence Academy Charter School Independence Academy is a public school of choice. We offer a premium education based on STEAM and O Together We Rise! Together We Soar! Together we rise.

Independence Academy Charter School (IACS), founded March 9, 2004, the first Charter School of it’s kind on the Western Slope, offers Preschool through 8th grade STEAM2 (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Music & Math) to the Grand Valley community. IACS courses are unique in that we focus on small classes (capped at 25), highly qualified professionals, 3D printing, glowforge, 1:1 computing, athletics, before/after school care, advanced arts, and a plethora of field work in the Grand Junction community. We’d love to meet you, host a tour, and chat more about what it means to be an IACS Phoenix. Together we soar.

The annual Senior Walk for this year's graduating seniors is May 11th at 9am.

Support Requested: IAHS Community Meeting on May 2

Dear Independence Academy Community,

I want to invite our families and community members to an upcoming Community Meeting regarding the Independence Academy High School application on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Harry Butler Board Room.

This meeting has been scheduled by the District 51 Board of Education as an opportunity for community members to share feedback regarding charter schools in our community as part of our application process. We hope to have strong parent and community support for the Independence Academy High School application.

If you believe in this opportunity for our students and families, we encourage you to participate. You are welcome to attend and speak in person at the meeting. If you plan to attend, please let us know so we can get a sense of who may be able to join us. If you are unable to attend, you may also email Mrs. Shrader a letter of support, and we will make sure it is shared during the meeting. Her email is [email protected]

Parent and community voices truly matter. Hearing directly from families about why this high school matters, how it would impact students, and what Independence Academy has meant to your family can make a real difference.
