Under the direction of Gretchen Hartop, the GJ Youth Orchestra meets for spring & fall sessions which culminate in bi-annual performances.
Created to give young musicians an opportunity to experience an orchestra setting, the Grand Junction Youth Orchestra is open to students of any age who have completed Suzuki Book 1 (or equivalent). There are three tiers to the orchestra, allowing beginner players an opportunity to experience orchestra for the first time as well as play with more experienced musicians. The second and third tier pl
ay alongside the beginners but also fill out their repertoire with more challenging pieces. The Grand Junction Youth Symphony has already begun practices for the 2017 Spring Concert. There are 8 practice rehearsals (once a week) before a final performance concert. The concert this spring will be on Thursday, March 16 at 7pm. This orchestra is open to all students and is a great opportunity specifically for those students who do not currently have an orchestra program available to them: charter schools, private schools, home educators, & public schools without an orchestra. If you have a student interested in joining the orchestra for future performances, please send us your information via this page and we will respond to you as soon as possible. The cost for participation is $80 per child. There is a $20 sibling discount for subsequent children in your family.
