✅ Japanese Sword (Iaido) classes are running as scheduled

Still want to get your body moving? Come give Iaido a try: it's a great way to train focus, control, and precision. No experience needed, just show up ready to learn.

Hybrid Defense is being honored with the Business of the Year award from the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce this evening, and we'll be celebrating together. Thank you to every student and family who made this possible.

This year's awards presentation will be held on Thursday October 8th 2026. The Chamber is proud to recognize those who give their time and energy to the community.

Hybrid Defense- Business of the Year

"Hybrid Defense is a martial arts and self-defense school dedicated to empowering individuals, families, and our community through practical training, positive culture, and meaningful education. Hybrid Defense is founded and operated by Sensei Derek Staubitz, a forth degree black belt who has been teaching for more than a decade.
Hybrid provides free women's self-defense seminars, visits local classrooms to speak with students about bullying prevention and personal safety, and offers active-shooter and emergency preparedness training. These programs are part of our commitment to making safety education accessible to the broader community and helping people feel more prepared, confident, and capable in difficult situations."

This year we will be switching things up a bit with lower prices and different type of event!!!
