Grand Forks County 4-H land judgers had an incredible day at the State Land Judging Contest on July 30 in Manning, ND!

The Grand Forks County Senior Team combined with Stark-Billings County to take 1st place in the Senior Division! This win qualifies the team to compete at the National Land Judging Contest in Oklahoma. Congratulations to our top individuals:
Marcus H. – 2nd place
Jenna N. – 3rd place

The Grand Forks County Junior Team placed 3rd overall in the Junior Division! Individually, they placed as follows:
Ellie S. – 6th place
Lucy H. – 10th place
Amelia N. – 13th place
Liam H. – 14th place

Congratulations to all of our land judgers on their hard work and dedication! We are so proud of the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout the season.

In land judging, participants use skills such as soil texturing, estimating slope, and determining the depth of surface and subsurface horizons. The contest helps youth develop an appreciation for soil and land while learning about soil structure, the effects of erosion, and proper land treatment practices.

Through land judging, 4-H youth are building the knowledge and skills they need to become future leaders and stewards of our land.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our generous sponsors for supporting the Grand Forks County 4-H program during this year's Greater Grand Forks Fair. Your generosity helps provide meaningful learning experiences, recognize the hard work of our youth, and make our fair a success.

Because of your support, our 4-H members had opportunities to learn, grow, compete, and showcase the projects they've worked so hard on throughout the year. Your investment in our program is truly an investment in the next generation of leaders.

We are incredibly grateful for your partnership and your commitment to helping our 4-H members thrive. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our youth and our community!

The Greater Grand Forks Fair was held on June 17–21. We had 116 4-H members show static and livestock exhibits for a total of 1,090 exhibits. We had at least 33 volunteers contribute 125 hours to make the fair a success. We are excited to send a massive lineup of static and livestock exhibits on to the State Fair this July 17–25!" Thank you to everyone that came out to support the 4-H Members!

Youth participation in the Greater Grand Forks Fair helps build strong communities by developing responsible, skilled, and engaged young leaders. Through hands-on learning, project work, and public presentations, 4-H youth gain life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. These experiences foster civic engagement and leadership development, contributing to a more prepared and capable future workforce. The benefits of 4-H extend beyond the individual, positively impacting families, schools, and the broader community.
