From discussing her path into the field to presenting about autism spectrum disorder and how to support individuals through music therapy techniques, our students learned so much. Congratulations to Madelyn Tyson, piano, as the winner of the the 2026 Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra - GGFSO Young Artists Competition, Collegiate Division! She will be featured as a soloist on the GGFSO's December Concert.

Congratulations are also in order for runner-up Mia Peterson, flute!

It was great to welcome Tiffany Ford of the UND Nistler College of Business & Public Administration and North Dakota Small Business Development Centers to MUSC 210 Music Entrepreneurship on Wednesday to talk about Market and Market Research!

Fun fact...she is a UND Music alum with a degree in Music Therapy! 🎶

What a fantastic guest residency with Philip Sinder!

Recently retired after an incredible 46 years as Michigan State’s professor of tuba and euphonium, Sinder is widely respected as an exceptional performer and educator.
He joined us for two busy day of presentations, masterclasses, and more, culminating in a solo tuba recital in collaboration with our own Dr. Lo on piano (who earned not just one but two doctorates at Michigan State herself!).

Sinder was Dr. Pugh's mentor during his doctorate, so this was a great chance for many of his "grandstudents" to get to meet and learn from him!
