Civil Engineering major Garrett Eickman spent time this summer with AE2S, a leading firm in the upper Midwest and Rocky Mountain region. The internship shows how quickly UND coursework translates into professional practice, giving Garrett hands-on exposure to the engineering process well before graduation.

Raja Abubakar Khalid just wrapped up his summer internship with the City of Grand Forks as a stormwater modeling intern. This hands-on experience working with the same tools municipal engineers use is a direct link between coursework and career.

Best wishes for a great fall semester Raja! He's set to earn his Ph.D. from UND in summer 2027.

For many future engineers, that path to UND's College of Engineering & Mines starts on the VEX Robotics field.

UND hosted 118 high school teams at the Mall of America this month for a VEX Robotics Signature Event, kicking off the 2026-27 season with the game OVERRIDE. Four teams punched their tickets to the 2027 VEX Robotics World Championship.

Meet Faisal Ahmed who is currently working to ensure reliable water and wastewater service for communities across the country. His work in energy efficiency analysis at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory is a great example of where a Civil Engineering degree can take you.

Faisal is finishing his doctorate and will graduate this spring. We look forward to seeing the next great thing you do!

🎉We're thrilled to kick off our VEX V5 Robotics Competition Override season in the U.S. with the University of North Dakota Signature Event at the Mall of America! 🎉

This event brings together 118 VEX Robotics teams from 23 U.S. states, 3 Canadian provinces, and 4 countries — an incredible show of talent and dedication from our global community!

Over the next three days, we can't wait to see how each team's designs perform and how their strategies play out on the field. It's shaping up to be an unforgettable competition!

It's time! The North Dakota Signature Event returns to the Mall of America TOMORROW! Get ready for live robot action in the MOA North Atrium. This event promises skills and thrills for all who compete—and for those who watch!

Pits open at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, with practice time in the early evening. Opening ceremonies are at 8:15 a.m. Friday with live action starting at 9:00 a.m.
