Here are a couple of my Florence favs! 🇮🇹🍝🌟
Florence has been the most perfect home base, I can’t imagine a better place to live this semester. Some of my favorite things to do are simply going on walks and stopping to look at everything. There is always something new to notice, and exploring every little corner of the city has made it feel so much like home.
One of my favorite weekly traditions is going to my roommates’ and my favorite restaurant, Gusta Panino, every Sunday. They have traditional Italian food which we get to enjoy while catching up about all of our weekend travels. It’s such a simple tradition, but it has become one of the things I look forward to most each week.
I feel so lucky to call this city home for a little while. Living here has made me appreciate every opportunity. If you have the option to study abroad it is completely worth it!

I am about halfway through my study abroad semester 😢 and one thing I’ve been loving is adapting to the Aussie lifestyle. Some things I’ve noticed that Aussies focus on is a relaxed yet active lifestyle, spending time outdoors, food, rugby, sense of community, work-life balance, friendships, barbecues, travel, and an overall quality and enjoyment of life. These are all things that have made my experience so special!

Here are a few highlights from my study abroad experience so far 🌍✨
One of the best parts about studying abroad is the freedom to do as much or as little as you want.
I’ve loved trying new things, and meeting so many amazing people along the way.
Going to surfing competitions, learning how to surf, and see another part of the world are things I’ll always cherish!

Comparing classrooms across the Atlantic
At UND most learning is guided through structured lectures that last around an hour and are heavily technology enhanced.💻
At AIFS, courses and classrooms can look a lot different. For lots of my classes we are not allowed to have our phones or computers out (unless the professor says otherwise) and we are constantly walking around the city. Our professors are constantly using hands-on learning. 📝
In the third, fourth and fifth photo, these are all places my Italy Sketchbook class has gone!
Tomorrow I have a field trip to a different part of Tuscany to learn about how those businesses market their product!! 🌳🍨

Ciao!! Mi chiamo Jenna Carlson, and I’m a Marketing major studying abroad in Rome, Italy this semester. 🇮🇹
I’ve always dreamed of living in another country, and sometimes life here still doesn’t feel real. I’m spending three months in Rome taking classes while getting to experience everyday life in one of the most historic cities in the world. Living here has already been such an incredible experience. The city is full of history, amazing food, unique culture, and there’s always something new to explore.
One of the reasons I chose Rome is because it’s such a great travel hub, which makes it really easy to explore other places around Europe. So far I’ve been able to visit Vienna, Budapest, London, Florence, Pisa, and Assisi, and I still have many more trips planned before the semester ends. It’s been amazing getting to experience so many different cultures and cities in such a short amount of time.
Studying abroad has taught me so much beyond the classroom. It’s pushed me to step outside my comfort zone, learn more about the world, and really embrace different cultures and ways of life.
This week I’ll be taking over the UND Study Abroad account to show what daily life looks like while studying abroad in Rome. I’ll be sharing what a typical day looks like with classes and preparing for travel, some of my favorite spots around the Eternal City, and answering any questions you have about studying abroad in Italy.
Follow along this week, and if you want to see more of my study abroad journey you can also follow my Instagram .carls0n . Ciao! 🇮🇹

A little recap of where Semester at Sea has taken me so far ⚓️📍
One of the best parts of this study abroad experience has been getting to wake up somewhere completely new almost every week and experience places I’ve only ever dreamed about visiting. Every country has felt completely different, from the landscapes to the people. The memories I’ve gained from this journey are something I know will stay with me long after it’s over.
Getting to travel this much while still being a student is something I don’t take for granted. Every port has pushed me outside my comfort zone in a different way and reminded me how big and beautiful the world really is. It’s allowed me to apply what I learn in the classroom to real experiences and see the world from perspectives I never would have otherwise.
Here’s a look at some of the places I’ve been lucky enough to experience so far. Many more adventures still to come.

Hi everyone! My name is Lauren, and I’m spending my spring semester traveling the world with Semester at Sea 🌎✨
This experience has honestly been something I’ve dreamed about since middle school, and it still feels crazy that I’m actually living it. Over the course of the semester, I’ll travel to 10+ countries while taking classes on a ship with students from all over the world. This basically means the ocean is our campus and every port becomes our classroom.
Ship life has been such an amazing mix of everyday routines and constant adventure. One day we’re in class or studying on the deck, and the next we’re waking up in a completely new country ready to explore. It’s busy, a little chaotic sometimes, but also the most fun and eye-opening experience I’ve ever had. I’ve already learned so much about the world, but honestly even more about myself.
This week I’m excited to show you what life at sea actually looks like, share some of the beautiful places I’ve been, and answer any questions you have about Semester at Sea or studying abroad in general!
