UND is often one of the first places where students meet LGBTQ+ people. This is especially true for many coming from rural communities. The Pride Center has served as a hub for students to learn about their own LGBTQ+ identity and also find a community of support with others that have similar or shared backgrounds. Belonging is key to student success. When a student feels accepted, affirmed in their identity, and can be open and authentic, they are more likely to succeed academically as well as achieve their personal goals. The Pride Center works to foster belonging on UND’s campus and create an environment where LGBTQ+ students can thrive.
Your support can help supply identity affirming resources in the Pride Center and across campus.

The Pride Center has helped provide leadership opportunities for LGBTQ+ students through attending conferences and networking. Attending conferences such as the former Midwest Bisexual Le***an Gay Transgender Asexual College Conference, Creating Change, oSTEM Conference, NGPA Winter Warm-up or UND’s very own LGBTQ+ Higher Education Day-long Institute are more than just events. They provide transformative experiences for students to engage with other LGBTQ+ students and professionals across the nation. They attend sessions to learn new ideas for their careers or personal lives and can even submit their own proposals to present.
These types of learning experiences can shape what is possible at a time when it might feel difficult to dream of a better future.
Your support can help a student attend a leadership conference!

In 2017, the Pride Center opened its doors in what was known as the Prairie Room in former Memorial Union. For years, students advocated on campus for a space to call their own where they could find community and access identity affirming resources. The creation of the Pride Center created possibility for the next generation of students.
Today, the Pride Center exists in a much larger space than before in the Memorial Union. Students gather to share a communal space, study, attend events, utilize resources, and more. They also have direct access to the director of the Pride Center as well as peer support from student staff. For almost 10 years, the Pride Center has represented a beacon of hope, a place of community and belonging, a place of safety and support. It is all possible because of the advocacy and action of those that came before and their continual support.

This Pride Month, we are not just celebrating who we are. We are investing in possibility. Pride is not only about looking back to acknowledge and learn from the past but to continue forward towards possibility.
Last June, we met our goal of $25,000 for the UND LGBTQ+ Endowment, but that is just the beginning. This year we are starting a Pride Week goal of raising $5,000 to kick-off Pride Month! Every day at the Pride Center is about making a difference in the lives of students. From helping students find community to exploring their leadership potential, our work creates possibility. And your support can help make it all happen!
$50 – Creates Connection: Supports the creation of a welcoming space from supplies for student drop-in activities and community-building within a semester.
$100 – Builds Belonging: Helps support student access to identify affirming resources and supplies.
$500 – Expands Access: Supports one event for community building or leadership development.
$1,000 – Creates Transformative Experiences: Supports campus-wide events and educational programs as well as support for students attending LGBTQ+ Leadership conferences.
Help us reach our goal!
