Tonight I had a very cool and unique opportunity in my music making. The performed a piece I composed and the poet who wrote the lyrics, , came to hear the piece performed! It was so wonderful meeting this amazing human being and getting to share in something we created together. I look forward to working with Alice again in the future and see this as the start of a great partnership!

The story behind Kingfisher:
My husband and I had our honeymoon in Brainerd MN. While eating at a cafe there, I came across a poem, Kingfisher, in a magazine. After reading just the first line I could hear this melody in my head, and it was stuck in my head for weeks until I finally wrote it down. Alice and I connected over social media in the fall and finally met in person tonight!

Hey everyone! For my pre-k program I’m making some instruments that the kids can take home, so I need some oatmeal containers like the one pictured. If you empty an oatmeal container please send it my way!

Another busy couple of weeks as we get closer to the end of the school year. Last Friday I played for the UND Music donor appreciation event, and then played in the chamber music recital on Wednesday. As much as I love soloing, I also really love working as a collaborative pianist! 😊

On Thursday we had the composer’s concert and today I played for some dear friends’ wedding with .claire.03. A busy couple of days before a busy end of the semester, but getting to do what I love!
