This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 🇺🇸
At TRIO, honoring their memory also means supporting those who walk in their footsteps. Did you know that the path from military service to higher education is deeply connected to the TRIO mission?
The data highlights a powerful reality about our student veterans and service members:
🇺🇸62% are first-generation college students—nearly 🇺🇸20% higher than their civilian peers.
🇺🇸Nearly 40% are eligible for Federal Pell Grants, representing low-income backgrounds.
Our military attracts individuals with incredible drive, leadership, and resilience—many of whom are the very first in their families to navigate the complex world of higher education.
Through programs like Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) and campus Student Support Services (SSS), TRIO is incredibly proud to serve those who serve.
Today and every day, we stand ready to provide the community, academic support, and resources our veterans deserve as they transition from the frontline to the classroom.
To all who have served, and to the families of those we have lost: We remember, and we thank you.
