Are your employees and managers feeling safe? Post 2020, this answer changed a bit for Americans. My guess, based on my work with managers and teams, would be that it changed substantially for some Americans. Or perhaps more accurately, many were unwilling and unable to go on with the status quo, given the additional life-and-death stressors of the pandemic. Justice and influence came up more readily in our conversations, as workplaces and managers wrestled more openly with DE&I initiatives, company culture, and employee health.
The foundational work of strengths-based development is rooted in self-awareness, interpersonal dynamics, and well-being. How are we functioning in the world, and how do we impact the people and teams around us? How do we perceive our safety in various spaces? How are we being perceived in our relationships and workplaces? And under stress, do we shrivel or shine?
ARE we safe? Are we making the world safe for others? And if not, what can we do about it?
