Band Camp 2026 is in the Books! Thank you to our incredible parent helpers all throughout the week, and our amazing custodian team for letting us take over GBHS for the last two weeks. Our students are excited to keep learning the rest of their show, and we’ll see you on August 27th for our first Football Halftime Show!

We enjoyed some much appreciated clouds on Day 3 of Band Camp to help get us past the halfway point of the week! Last night, our themed dress was "Queen or Queen Day," where our students chose to dress as either Freddie Mercury or other royalty. We're excited for a great Day 4!

Day 2 of Band Camp in the Books!

We introduced our new season mascot, "Big Mercury," to our rehearsal today, received some of our new baritones, and put a lot more onto sets the field. We're excited to keep pushing into Day 3!

2026 Band Camp begins today! Our kids are really pushing themselves to be great. More pictures will follow in the coming days, and thank you to the parents for helping us with lunch and dinner throughout this week!

What a fantastic three days of music! 🎶

From July 7–9, the Grand Blanc Summer Band brought together 45 talented middle school students for an exciting opportunity to grow as musicians, build friendships, and have fun making music together. It was incredible to see their hard work, enthusiasm, and progress throughout the camp. We also had some very dedicated high school band students join us to be great role models for our younger students.

A huge thank you to our students, families, and directors for making this year’s Grand Blanc Summer Band such a success. We can’t wait to see these young musicians continue to grow throughout the school year!

Join a collection of our Jazz Ensemble students at Irene's of Grand Blanc THIS Wednesday, June 3rd at 6:30pm!

Our students will perform some tunes at the beginning of the night, and then join the Kearsley Street Big Band later in the eveing. Our performers will be provided food after their performance and we hope you can come out to support this new performance opportunity!

We’re excited to introduce something new at Irene’s.

In partnership with the Kearsley Street Big Band, Irene’s will host a featured regional high school jazz ensemble during dinner service each month. Musicians will perform individually and then come together throughout the evening, creating a truly unique live music experience for our guests and giving talented young artists a stage to shine.

We’re beyond excited to see what this grows into.

Irene’s will remain open for normal dinner service, and participation in Jazz Night is completely optional. Guests wishing to enjoy the live performances will be asked to contribute a $10 music charge, with proceeds helping us support and provide meals for our musicians.

A limited number of non-refundable advance seating preference reservations will be available based on indoor capacity. If weather cooperates, we’ll move the experience into the Biergarten and release additional seating opportunities.

We kickoff the 2026 GBMB Season TOMORROW night from 6:00-8:30pm! We can’t wait to welcome back our students and meet our new members! If your student would like to be part of the winds, percussion, or color guard there is still time to register - please reach out to Mr. Tripp ([email protected]) with any questions.

Students should bring tennis shoes, their instruments/sticks, their cell phone, and a water bottle to tomorrow nights rehearsal.

That's a wrap on Jazz Night!

There are many people to thank for making this evening happen. Thank you to our Boosters and Parents for planning and setting up for the event, thank you to the staff of West MS for allowing us to crowd your stage, and thank you to the individuals and businesses of the community that donated to our Basket Raffles!

Today we had Prof. Brian Di Blassio of UM-Flint to work with our combined jazz bands in preparation for Jazz Night this Friday! The Jazz Bands commissioned Prof. Di Blassio to arrange a favorite chart of ours to premiere at our concert, and we're VERY excited to share it with you all!

Arranger Bio: Brian DiBlassio is a pianist, composer, and arranger known for his dynamic range across jazz, Latin, and classical idioms. An Associate Professor of Music at the University of Michigan–Flint, he brings decades of experience as a performer and educator. His performance credits include collaborations with Arturo Sandoval, Andy Narell, and the Detroit Jazz Festival, as well as performances throughout the U.S, France, and Austria. He performs regularly in a variety of settings, from solo piano to collaborative projects that explore the intersections of genre and form.
