Horatio Nelson was a British naval commander and one of the most celebrated figures in Royal Navy history.

Born in 1758, he rose to prominence during the wars against Revolutionary and Napoleonic France. Despite losing sight in one eye and later losing his right arm, he continued to serve in combat and became known for aggressive tactics, close engagement with the enemy, and a willingness to act independently when he believed victory required it.

His most famous victory came at the Battle of Trafalgar, where he defeated the combined French and Spanish fleets, securing British naval dominance for more than 100 years. He was fatally wounded during that battle in 1805 and passed away aboard his flagship, HMS Victory, becoming a national hero in Britain.

- 84 years ago today… the quiet of a Sunday morning was broken forever. 🕊️⚓🇺🇸

The sky over Pearl Harbor turned black with smoke, red with fire, and filled with the cries of men fighting to survive.

Sailors trapped below deck.
Nurses running toward the flames.
Families watching the harbor burn.
And heroes — so many heroes — who never saw another sunrise.

2,403 lives gone.
But their courage lives on in every flag raised, every freedom defended, every memory preserved.

As we look back on this day,
may we never forget the cost… and never take their sacrifice for granted.

Honor them. Remember them. Carry their story forward.
