Valley Pre-School Valley Pre-School is a parent- and teacher-run cooperative preschool established in 1949.

We are a non-profit organization, fully licensed in the state of Connecticut. By design, VPS is a part-time preschool–the only one of its kind in Granby. We offer an exploratory preschool program for 3 and 4 year old children of any race, religion or ethnic background.

A great big thank you to Lost Acres Orchard for hosting our Valley Pre-School classes this last week! Our students were treated to lessons about the apple trees that the orchard grows, vegetable & fruit plants, and insects. They all went on a nature hike and a hay ride which was certainly a favorite! Thank you to our amazing teachers, parent helpers and chaperones for making our field trips possible! 🍎🐝🪾🍂

🌻🌱 Enrichment is back! 🌱🌻
Our Enrichment Program kicked off on September 14th, and Session 1 is all about nature! Students have been getting curious, exploring, experimenting, and discovering the world around them through hands-on activities. 🔎🌸
From exploring flowers and apples, to keeping an eye out for insects outside, there’s lots of learning happening through play! We can’t wait to see where their curiosity takes them next!

Our very own Peggy Shaw will be opening for the Salmon Brook Music Series with some Valley Preschool favorites before Boston-based singer-songwriter Kali Stoddard-Imari takes the stage! 🎤🎸

Come enjoy some music, see a familiar Valley face, and spend an afternoon with our wonderful Granby community!

Our school and classrooms are ready to greet our 2026/2027 classes! This week we will greet our new 3’s friends on Tuesday and Thursday and our 4’s friends on Wednesday and Friday! Please remember to bring your stuffed animal from home visits, a labeled water bottle, a backpack with labeled extra clothes and a treat for Socrates and our new friend in Mrs. Sheehan’s room!

One of the most exciting days before the start of school is the Valley Preschool teacher home visits! Our incoming students were given a stuffed animal to bring on the first day of school, a picture of the class guinea pigs (Socrates and our new friend), and a special plant from Mrs. Tawney!

Children are most comfortable in their natural environment and the home visits are the best way to start the year for the teachers and families!
