Dear MacDuffie Community,

We are excited to announce the appointment of Mr. Phil Darrin as the next Head of School at The MacDuffie School. With nearly 30 years of independent school leadership experience, Phil has served in roles including coach, academic dean, chief programs officer, head of school, and director of advancement.

Following an international search of more than 100 candidates conducted with Carney Sandoe & Associates, Phil was unanimously recommended by the advisory board for his experience, leadership, and vision for MacDuffie’s future. He will officially begin his tenure on July 1, 2026.

On Friday, we celebrated Steven Griffin and his 15 years of dedicated service as Head of School. We gathered for a special assembly in his honor to thank him for the incredible impact he has made on our community.

Mr. Griffin is truly the heart of MacDuffie. He is not only a Head of School, but also a teacher at heart who loved all things math. He never turned a student away, always making time to help, guide, and inspire.

He brought energy and spirit to every part of school life, from performing in school plays to cheering on students at games, supporting the arts, and joining in on field trips. His presence could be felt everywhere, and his commitment to our students never went unnoticed.

Beyond school, Mr. Griffin’s love for his family, music, and community shaped who he is and made him even more special to all of us.

He leaves behind a lasting legacy that will continue to be felt for years to come. While we will deeply miss him as he returns to Canada in July, we wish him nothing but the very best in this next chapter.
