Farm week, favorite week!!! 🚜🐄🌽 Our field trip to Gran-Val Scoop was AMAZING. We tried the ice cream (twice!), fed the animals, and had a great picnic lunch! Thank you parent helpers for coming along with us, we appreciate your help in always making these trips go so smoothly! And… Everyone make sure to tell Miss Erika on Monday that she’s the coolest teacher ever for all the learning and fun activities she brought to Small World this week!❤️

Week of August 17th - August 21st
Theme: Back to School 📚✏️🏫🖍️

Monday 8/17: Color & Shape Day. Wear your FAVORITE color to school as we spend a day getting creative with color exploration!

Tuesday 8/18: Book Day. Bring your FAVORITE book to school to share during groups! We’ll be making our own books to bring home too!

Thursday 8/20: Letter & Number Day. Today we will review all the important letters and numbers in their life as we gear up for school to start again!

Friday 8/21: Small World’s Annual Kick-Off Cookout. After closing, we will launch the new school year with a cookout of hot dogs and hamburgers, ice cream sundae making, giant 3-in-1 inflatable obstacle course, a preschool only bounce house and entertainment! RSVP on the front board and sign up to bring food items if you’d like to!

While we wish the weather cooperated a bit more, we still made the most of our Camp Week! And thank you to all our families who contributed the snacks for our Monday party, it made our PJ day extra special!

Week of August 3rd - August 7th
Theme: Party Time 🎉🎈🥳

Tuesday 8/4: Dance Party Day 🕺🏽🎶 Bring your best moves for the dance competition! All things groove including a themed-craft and dancing thrills!

Thursday 8/6: Throwback Thursday 🪩📼 We will create our own tie-dye masterpieces on this 70's inspired day. For this day, please provide a white cotton T-shirt or tank top clearly labeled with your child's name AND bring in a baby picture for our throwback "Who's That Baby" guessing game!

Friday 8/7: Carnival Day 🎟️🍿 The day will be all things carnival with an inflatable bounce house, carnival craft, games and treats. We will also have tattoos for the children on this very special day. The cost for the day's activities is $10 per child. Please make sure you have returned your permission form for the day’s activities.

Tuesday 8/11: Field Trip to Gran-Val Scoop. We will leave Small World, rain or shine, at 10:15 a.m. by bus and return by 1:00 p.m. Children will tour the dairy barn and will learn about the ice cream making process. Children will also have a chance to feed and interact with the other farm animals. After the program, we will have a picnic lunch and will enjoy a kiddie cone! Please pack a labeled, non-perishable brown bag lunch and drink for this day. Please sign and return the attached permission slip. The cost of this trip is $35. There is no fee for parent helpers, if you would like to help us on this trip, please sign up on the front bulletin board!

Your all-stars spent the week showing off their team spirit, trying new sports, and crafting their own fan gear! We also raised money for St. Jude’s and participated in our annual Trike-a-Thon where we learned and practiced all the rules of bike safety! Granby PD’s Officer Deloy also made a special visit to speak with us, and since it was raining we can expect another special visit from him AND his bike to come ride with us again soon! It was a very active week, now time to settle in for some calm campsite time…!

Week of July 27 – July 31st
Theme: Camp Out ⛺️🔥🗺️

Monday 7/27: Pajama Day 🦙😴 Come to school in your pajamas! This morning will include all things sleepy and bedtime including a breakfast snack, themed craft, and games. Children may also arrive in slippers to wear indoors, but please bring an additional change of clothes and appropriate shoes for outdoor play.

Wednesday 7/29: Small World’s Campout ⛺️ Get ready for a mini vacation! We will enjoy a special s’mores treat for snack and play some fun camping games and activities such as bingo!

Friday 7/31: Bike Friday! 🚲

Imaginations ran WILD this week at Small World! We had a wacky week of fun pretending to be princesses, superheroes, and everything in between! As always, a fantastic effort on the dress ups we LOVE seeing them go all out for these special days!

Tuesday 7/21: Bike Rodeo & St. Jude’s Fundraiser🚲 Bring your bikes and helmets for a morning of bike safety with the Granby Police Department! We would appreciate a contribution of $10 per family to go towards our St. Jude’s donation, please check your Parent Pockets for more information on how to donate!!!

Thursday 7/23: All Star Sports Day🏅 Come to school wearing your favorite team’s gear for a fun, active and sporty day!

Friday 7/24: Sprinkler and Water Play Day!💧Please arrive to school in bathing suits, water shoes, and sunscreen for AM water play!

Wednesday 7/1: BLUE Day 🟦 Wear your BLUE to school to enjoy some blue themed snacks and activities!

Thursday 7/2: Wagon Parade 🇺🇸 Wear your most patriotic gear and get ready to decorate and show off our patriotic wagons for our neighbors over in Stony Brook! Please return permission forms ASAP!

Friday 7/3: Small World CLOSED. Have a safe and FUN 4th of July weekend 🇺🇸❤️

•Please make sure we have received a face stick and body spray to reapply sunscreen on your child in the afternoon.
•Bathing suits, towels, and water shoes can stay at Small World! If you prefer to bring them back and forth, totally fine, but we will continue to have PM sprinkler time when the weather allows it!

• Wednesday 5/27 & Thursday 5/28: Last Days of Preschool Parties!!! These two days we will celebrate the official end of our academic school year with some special snacks and commemorative crafts!
• Friday 5/29: Preschool Graduation 🎓 Graduates should arrive by 8:30am, ceremony will start at 8:45am with a “playground celebration” to follow!

Another successful trip to Roaring Brook Nature Center! In the fall, it rained all morning and thankfully stopped as soon as we stepped off the bus. Now in the spring, it was clear all morning at the nature center until right as we got on the bus to head back! So lucky the weather has cooperated for us and so appreciative as always for our amazing parent chaperones. Thank you all so much for coming and making this fun trip happen!

Week of May 11th - 15th

Sunday 5/10: Happy Mother’s Day!!! We hope all our Small World Moms enjoy the day and the special gifts your kids crafted with Miss Erika and Miss Miranda! 💝💐

Friday 5/15: Bike Friday AND The Final Show & Tell. They can bring ANY one item they’d like to share with their friends. No letter requirement, just for fun! 😄

• GRADUATES: We are officially 15 school days away from graduation (Friday 5/29) 🥲!!! We are practicing our “lines” almost daily at school, but don’t forget to get some extra reps in at home too!
• MAD SCIENCE: Professor Presto will be back on Wednesday 5/20 with our final session of the school year!
• WEATHER: Please continue to pack the extra layers for chilly mornings and late afternoons on the playground. We are getting outside so much more and want them to be prepared!
