Fun Opportunity for Valentine’s Day:
Everyday Boston is a local Boston Non-Profit that believes stereotypes divide us and Stories connect us.
Each year for Valentine's they have a Love Your wicked Awesome Neighbor Challenge. This challenge is where you (Whether it is your program or you personally) create some handmade Valentine's messages and hand them out to strangers on Valentine’s Day. They ask that you sign up on their website if you will be participating so they can know who and where people are participating from.
If you participate, please share your experience on social media using the hashtag . They also ask that you share your neighborhood. This is not limited to the Boston area. One regular participant shared: I do this each year. I hand out cards on my daily travels to random people like the bus driver, my Dunkin cashier, and people standing on the MBTA platform. Sure, they look at me like I’m weird initially but when they read the simple card they usually then smile. In a world filled with rushing around and anger, this is a wonderful opportunity to spread some love. One of the middle schoolers who participated placed one on each parked car on her walking route to school and a local neighbor posted it on our community page stating it was so nice to wake up to such a cheery message instead of a parking ticket. This can also be used to engage families. Again, this is totally optional. Just sharing the opportunity if you want to participate. If you do, I’d love to hear how it went!
