Good morning Children First community,
Today we are sending best wishes on the first day of school to all of our Granby Public Schools children and families! We hope that your amazing summer with your friends and teachers at Children First provided you with all you need to start the new school year off fresh, energized and prepared!
For those of you who join us for the before and/or after school program, we can't wait to see you soon and hear all about your first day! (Parents, if you'd like to share pictures of your child(ren)'s first day of school, please feel free to share them in the comments, School-Age group chat on Class Dojo, or email them to Heather L. at [email protected] and I will share them internally with our team!)
And parents/guardians of school age children, if the beginning of the school year snuck up on you and you don't have before or after school care lined up, we got you covered! We still have some space available for your children to join us!!!

Lastly, we are looking to add a part-time, school-age support teacher (end of day hours, 2-5:30, are needed the most) and we are also looking to add to our pool of EEC certified infant/toddler/preschool substitute teachers. 🍦☀️ **A Sweet End to Summer!** ☀️🍦

We wrapped up another amazing summer with a very special treat today! Our school-age children and staff enjoyed an afternoon visit from the ice cream truck—and there were plenty of smiles, laughs, and sweet treats to go around! 💕🍨

What better way to celebrate all the fun, friendship, and memories made this summer at Children First? We’re already looking forward to the adventures ahead! 🌈✨

Today our administrative team stepped away from the office for an off-site meeting to collaborate, brainstorm, and plan for the future. Sometimes the best ideas come when you change your surroundings!

We were also happy to support a wonderful local business while we worked. There’s something special about gathering over great coffee, delicious treats, and a welcoming atmosphere while investing in our team and our community.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and continue finding new ways to better serve the children and families who count on us every day. 💙

At our nature-based learning center, nature isn't just something we explore outdoors—it's woven into our classrooms, too! 🌿

Our children spend so much of their day outside discovering the wonders of the natural world, but our teachers also bring those experiences indoors to inspire curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning. These photos feature our Maple Classroom, one of our Pre-K classrooms, where natural materials and nature-inspired activities help keep the joy of exploration growing all year long.

Learning through nature happens everywhere—inside and out! 🌼

Today marks one full year as Executive Director at Children First, and I’m feeling incredibly grateful.

To our amazing staff—thank you for your dedication, compassion, and the care you bring to this work every single day. You make Children First the special place that it is.

To our wonderful children—thank you for the joy, laughter, curiosity, and endless reminders of what truly matters.

And to our families—thank you for your trust, partnership, and for allowing us to be part of your children’s lives and learning journeys.

This first year has been full of growth, learning, challenges, and so many meaningful moments. I feel deeply honored to be part of this community and excited for all that lies ahead.

It was a day full of special moments at Children First! 💙

If you’ve ever met Ms. Ashlee, our Birch co-teacher, you know that she LOVES Stitch, from Lilo and Stitch. She shares her love of Stitch with the children all the time, but today the classroom celebrated Stitch Day (because Stitch is Experiment 626) - what a fun way to bring a favorite character to life! 🌺💙

Our Maple classroom shared heartfelt “See You Later” wishes with Ms. Justice, their wonderful co-teacher, as they celebrated the time they’ve all shared together and wished her all the best in her next adventure. 💕
We know she’ll be missed!
