🎶 Music with Mr. Mark 🎶

Our classrooms were filled with music, movement, and lots of smiles today as we welcomed Mr. Mark from Berkshire Hills Music Academy to Children First! 🩵
The children had so much fun singing, moving, exploring rhythm, and experiencing the joy of making music together. We love opportunities like these that bring learning to life through creativity, connection, and play!

🦋✨ Something magical happened in the Maple Classroom! ✨🦋

On Friday, THREE beautiful butterflies emerged from their chrysalises! Our Maple friends have been patiently watching and waiting, and their excitement when the butterflies finally arrived was priceless! 💖

At the end of last week, I had the absolute honor of hosting our Leadership Team at my home for our first ever Leadership Team Retreat: Rooted Together 🌱. We spent the day reflecting, renewing, and growing together & enjoyed retreat-style activities, delicious food, and welcomed Joanna from Self-Leadership Collaborative to introduce the PAUSE model to our team ✨.
As leaders in the field of early childhood education and care, we spend so much of our time taking care of details and problems.
Our retreat was a chance to step away from that pace, make room for ourselves, and to PAUSE.
💖 Grateful beyond words for this awesome team and this amazing community! 🥰

It looks simple… but there’s A LOT of learning happening here! 👀✨
Our toddler teachers created this hands-on activity to support fine motor development—and our toddlers were ready to get to work! 💪🖐️
By peeling, pulling, grasping, and manipulating the tape and magnetic shapes, children are strengthening the small muscles in their hands and fingers while practicing hand-eye coordination, concentration, problem-solving, and persistence.
And the best part? They’re building these important skills through play and exploration—exactly the way young children learn best! 💖
This is what intentional teaching looks like at Children First: taking a simple idea and turning it into an opportunity for children to learn, grow, and have fun. 🌱

Good morning Children First community,

We are so excited to announce that we are in the final stages of entering into a partnership with the South Hadley Public Schools Transportation Company. With this partnership, Children First will be able to provide students with before and/or after school care in our School-Age program by offering transportation, in a small van (9 seater), to and from the public school. This opportunity will first be offered to students who attend Skala School, with the potential to extend this opportunity to Mosier School students, based on availability and interest.

We are now at the point where we are able to share this survey with you in order to: 1.) Share information and 2.) Determine family interest.

Based on the data we collect, we will then follow-up with S. Hadley Transportation for them to create a service agreement with Children First, and then we will reach back out to those of you who have expressed serious interest.

Please see the following options (below) for daily rates and complete the survey only if you are seriously interested in moving forward with registering for care and transportation.
Please follow the following instructions when completing the survey:
If you have multiple children who you would be registering, complete one survey for each child.
Complete the form for children who attend either Skala and Mosier Schools (as we collect data, this is important information for us to have.)
Please complete the survey by end of day this Friday, 9/4/26.
Daily Rates:
Before-school care with transportation only - $24.25 (CF before-school rate - $10.75, SH van - $13.50)
After-school care with transportation only - $35.50 (CF after-school rate - $22, SH van - $13.50)
Both before & after school care with transportation - $59.75 (CF combined rate - $32.75, SH van - $27)

Families are able to choose a la carte options and will be billed weekly by CF through ACH automatic withdrawals (weekly payments will include both care and transportation rates).

A minimum of seven to nine children will need to commit to this opportunity in order for us to move forward with this partnership with S.Hadley.

Good morning Children First community,
Today we are sending best wishes on the first day of school to all of our Granby Public Schools children and families! We hope that your amazing summer with your friends and teachers at Children First provided you with all you need to start the new school year off fresh, energized and prepared!
For those of you who join us for the before and/or after school program, we can't wait to see you soon and hear all about your first day! (Parents, if you'd like to share pictures of your child(ren)'s first day of school, please feel free to share them in the comments, School-Age group chat on Class Dojo, or email them to Heather L. at [email protected] and I will share them internally with our team!)
And parents/guardians of school age children, if the beginning of the school year snuck up on you and you don't have before or after school care lined up, we got you covered! We still have some space available for your children to join us!!!

Lastly, we are looking to add a part-time, school-age support teacher (end of day hours, 2-5:30, are needed the most) and we are also looking to add to our pool of EEC certified infant/toddler/preschool substitute teachers. 🍦☀️ **A Sweet End to Summer!** ☀️🍦

We wrapped up another amazing summer with a very special treat today! Our school-age children and staff enjoyed an afternoon visit from the ice cream truck—and there were plenty of smiles, laughs, and sweet treats to go around! 💕🍨

What better way to celebrate all the fun, friendship, and memories made this summer at Children First? We’re already looking forward to the adventures ahead! 🌈✨
