First update in a long time, apologies. We had a mishap with the engine at the last race in Sept 2021 when the harmonic balance disintegrated, long story. The new engine is in the car and we are starting her up for the first time tomorrow, here’s some progress photos.

Ok, so yes, it's been waaaay to long since I posted an update. But, we're still here and YES, we're still racing! I've missed too much to provide a full update so I'll just try to start over by providing some current news and a lot of photos.
Our most recent race was 12-13 June 2020 at Circuit of the America's in Austin. Yes, THAT circuit of the America's - where they hold the ONLY Formula 1 race in the United States. We did ok in this race, had a blast, but we had some problems with the computer on the car so we missed out on her full potential at this iconic track. This led to the unanimous Team decision to transform the car back to old-school, we're in the process of taking out all of the electronics and the fuel injection system and going to completely naturally aspirated - yep, with a carbuerator!
You'll probably notice in these pix that the car looks a little different too, instead of black and red she's now white and black - we all agree that it looks much better now!
Our NEXT race is Sept 26-27 2020 at Harris Hill Raceway in San Marcos, which will be our first race with the mustang feat. a carbuerator - we can't wait! Stay tuned!

She's all dressed up and ready to race! Next event - World Racing League (WRL); April 6-7, MSR Houston (Angleton) TX
Dyno test at MSR Cresson today. They push it to rev limiter starting at 4:08, lots of warm ups before that.
Results - 170 HP; 249 lb ft. of torque; not bad for a rebuilt stock motor from 1995.
Dyno results are required for our next race in World Racing League (WRL); http://www.worldracingleague.org/ - they use the dyno results plus the weight of the car for classification/competition purposes.
We're running with them at MSR Houston April 6-7 2019.

Another Race in the books!
Champ Car - Harris Hill Raceway, San Marcos, TX
28-29 Sept 2018
We finished 2nd in class both days!
The track at Harris Hill is 1.82 miles per lap. We completed 225 laps on Saturday and 236 laps on Sunday for a total of 829.2 miles. Average speed - 80 mph.
The car gets about 9 mpg driving like that.
We went through a (new) set of brake pads on Saturday, replaced them that evening, and we used up a full set of (new) tires over the weekend.
Jakob had our best lap time on the weekend, again, he ran a 1:37.59 on Saturday and a 1:38.47 on Sunday. For reference, Fran's best lap was a 1.41, Lionel was 1.42 and my best lap was a 1.44.
Here's a video of Jakob running during test and tune on Friday.
It has sound so turn on the speaker - lots of wind noise in the GoPro (since it was mounted to the fender) but you can hear the engine and tires too.
He starts out a little slower as he's getting a feel for the track and the car again but he starts to open it up towards the end.

Getting the tires ready - many thanks to Bob Baker for coming out on Sunday!
