DID YOU KNOW?!
In the state of Louisiana, Early Childhood Educators are often placed on the same occupational scale as dog walkers and pet caretakers — despite the enormous responsibility we carry every single day.
Our teachers are:
• CPR certified
• Mandated reporters
• Trusted with the safety and development of children during the most important years of brain growth
• Required to continue their education beyond high school to obtain credentials such as a CDA
• Observed and evaluated by the Department of Education just like elementary school teachers
We are not “babysitters.”
We are educators.
We are protectors.
We are nurturers.
We are the foundation of the current workforce AND the future workforce.
Without Early Childhood Education, parents cannot work, businesses cannot operate, and children lose critical opportunities during the most important developmental years of their lives.
We demand that the state see us, value us, and treat us better — because our profession is worth far more than being compared to a dog walker.
Early Childhood Educators deserve respect.
Early Childhood Educators deserve support.
Early Childhood Educators deserve better.
