Rainbow Day bringing all of the positive energy to SVK!! 🌈💐

Week 1️⃣ of the 2026 school age summer camp is in the books, and it's safe to say these campers are having an absolute blast! 🎉

We're leaning into those community connections with special guest visitors, art inspired by the beauty of our natural world, and lots of outdoor exploration within the village! If you see our campers out and about in SXPHW , give them a warm hello!! 👋

Reminder to families: SVK (both preschool and summer camp) will be closed on Friday, June 19th in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

It's Pride Month and we're here to share some of our favorite pride stories for little people. Folks often ask us how we approach this topic in our preschool classrooms, here are a few of the basics!

🌈 Focus on Family. Explaining that families come in all shapes and sizes, and what makes a family a family is love.

🌈 Explain the Rainbow Flag. It's a symbol that shows everyone is welcome! Just like there are many different colors in a rainbow, there are many different kinds of people in the world, and that makes our community beautiful.

🌈 Emphasize Kindness & Being Yourself. Pride Month is a time to celebrate being exactly who you are, and loving who you love. It's a reminder to be kind to everyone, even if they are different from you, and to make sure everyone feels safe and happy.

🌈 Conversations About Fairness. Sometimes, not everyone is treated nicely just for being who they are. Pride is a time to celebrate how hard people work to make sure everyone is treated equally and fairly.

Community adventures today included a visit to the Saxapahaw Island Park for the Orchid Room! What a joy to share in the delight of our public spaces and a beautiful reminder of how important it is to preserve and maintain them! 💚

It's been a wild school year to say the least, but our educators were still able to dedicate time to collecting art, celebrating our little artists, and honoring this annual tradition. This joyous event was a wonderful reminder of all that we are capable of.
