Our first field trip was a great success! To the river! We studied beetles, caught lizards, learned about different rocks, and built a dam. We watched a pair of bald eagles push their three young ones out of the trees and practice flying. They chirped at each other and circled for a while before flying down the river.

Parents know their child better than anyone else.

You know what excites them, what discourages them, and what motivates them. You know their strengths, their struggles, and the goals they're working toward. No teacher, administrator, or test score can replace years of living alongside your child.

Teachers bring valuable expertise to education. Parents bring something equally valuable: intimate knowledge of their child.

I believe students thrive when parents and teachers work together instead of working separately.

That's why Stonehaven Academy is designed to keep parents actively involved throughout their child's education—not just through report cards and conferences, but as true partners in helping students grow academically, personally, and spiritually.

Have you felt included in your child's education?

Discover how Stonehaven Academy keeps parents involved in their student's education, academic decisions, character development, and long-term success.

Do grades alone determine success?

Good grades can open doors, but they don't guarantee that a student is prepared for life. Straight-A students can still struggle with responsibility, integrity, perseverance, and compassion.

When I think about success, I think about much more than a report card. I want students to develop a Godly character, habits that support lifelong success, curiosity that drives learning, and the ability to contribute to their communities.

That's why I believe success should be measured by more than grades.

In my latest article, I share what success looks like at Stonehaven Academy and why our definition goes beyond academic achievement.

Homeschooling gets harder in the teenage years.
The academic work becomes more challenging, time becomes harder to manage, and families often find themselves stretched in multiple directions.
Many teens also begin to feel isolated, as meaningful peer interactions no longer happen naturally and have to be intentionally created.
But what if you didn’t have to choose between homeschooling freedom and meaningful daily community?
That's what I needed for my teens.
Read why I started Stonehaven Academy:

Stonehaven Academy was founded to provide an affordable alternative for families seeking options to homeschooling, public school, or traditional private schools.
