Best Buddies Fundraiser

Funds raised through our pie and cookie dough fundraisers help us provide additional activities and experiences for our students, while also helping offset the cost of Best Buddies T-shirts and other items that increase visibility throughout the school community. 𝐖𝐚𝐬 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 “𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝” 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐩? 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭!

In Mrs. Perry's World History class, students tackled one of history’s big questions: in 1750, which societies had the advantage, and was Europe truly destined to dominate the world stage?

Instead of just reading about it, students got to work like historians. They researched different societies of the 1750s, shared their findings with classmates, and ranked key aspects of each society, then took it all to a World Cup-style bracket to see who would really come out on top.

The results have been fascinating. So far, in 3 out of 5 classes, Europe has NOT made it past 3rd place! Students are finding that the story of 1750 looks very different when you examine the evidence for yourself, rather than assuming the outcome was inevitable.

We love seeing students dig into evidence, defend their thinking, and challenge assumptions, all while having fun along the way.

2027 Yearbooks are currently on sale.

Yearbooks are $80 until January 1st at which time they become full price ($90). All yearbooks must be purchased by 1/24/27.

Yearbooks can be purchased:

1) Online- Go to yearbookforever.com and search for Grafton Memorial Senior High School. Please be careful when selecting the correct school, there is a Grafton High School located in Wisconsin. If you choose to purchase the yearbook online, you will also have the option to personalize your yearbook for an additional cost.

2) Check- Checks should be made out to GHS Yearbook. Checks can be brought to Ms. Miele in room B206 before/after school or during extended block.

3) Cash- Cash payments should be exact. Cash payments can be brought to Ms. Miele in room B206 before/after school or during extended block.

New Staff Member Alert!

GHS! Please welcome Ms. LaRoche, the new District Counseling Director. Having lots of experience in another school (she was in West Boylston for 23 years!), she finds Grafton High to be extremely welcoming and energizing, and hopes to support all students by guiding them to success after graduation.

Although her role is different from what she is used to and what it was, she is excited to continue helping others just like she did during her own time in High School. She loves her dog, family, and pizza, along with her teaching position, where she guides individuals who want to follow the counseling profession, and yoga class. Her door is always open, stop by to say hi!

Girls Soccer Senior Night

Girls Soccer Night was a memorable night for the team as they celebrated their seniors with an exciting 4–1 victory over Leicester. The team played with energy from the opening whistle, working together to create scoring opportunities and control the game. Senior Kenley Fletcher contributed a hat trick, while the team’s strong defense and overall effort helped secure the win.

The night was about more than just the final score. It was a celebration of the seniors, their dedication to the program, and all the memories they have made together. With their teammates, coaches, families, and fans cheering them on, the seniors ended their final home game with a performance they will not soon forget.

This week's tutor highlights focus on seniors Zach Mergenthimer and Zoey Kautz! Both students provide tutoring support in Algebra I, II, and III, while Zoey also assists students in CP Statistics.

Zoey believes tutoring matters because “it's important for kids to get help if they need it. I know I've struggled in classes before and I haven't been able to get help, so I think helping others who struggle is good. Also, it's fun to review topics from previous years and help teach them!”

When asked how their tutoring experience might help them pursue further education and their dream jobs, Zach mentioned, “Teaching difficult subjects prepares me for my goal of becoming a teacher one day. I also aspire to own a taekwondo studio.”

Both Chloe and Zach are excellent examples of compassion and dedication, always ready to help those who need math support. If you are looking for a tutor in Algebra I, II, III, or CP Statistics, please reach out to Ms. Gindre!

🐊 TEAM SPOTLIGHT | GRAFTON GOLF ⛳️

After losing 10 seniors who had contributed for years, it would have been easy for the Gators to use the loss of experience as an excuse for a down year. Instead, the team has embraced the challenge of becoming a younger team, with captains Ryan Chagnon (Sr.) and Jack Ryan (Jr.) leading the way.

With several sophomores and freshmen stepping into bigger varsity roles, the captains have focused on building confidence and making sure everyone feels included.

Despite all the new faces, the team has quickly built chemistry both on and off the course.

“Everyone has been willing to get to know each other, help out, and keep things positive both on and off the course.” — Jack Ryan

With a goal of qualifying as many players for states as possible, the Gators are focused on proving that a younger roster doesn’t mean lower expectations.

The Gators may look different this season, but the expectations haven’t changed. With a new group stepping up, Grafton is looking to make its mark and show what this young team can do. 🐊⛳️
