State convention might be over but we aren’t done thinking about it.

Another state convention in the books 💙💛 there was competitions and a little bit of fun. From dancing the night away to practicing our Happy Gilmore swings we played just as hard as we worked.

Here are the results of our competitions!

State convention started with a bang for our chapter!
We traveled to Fargo in a bit of rain and a quick Starbucks stop. Once we got to state convention we took off running with members competing in Small Animal Care, delegate work, and the first session.
At the first session our chapter was recognized for Food For All, Premier Chapter, and Superior Chapter for Ag Voices Unleashed.
To top it all off we found out that our National Chapter Application qualified for national judging!

Congratulations to the chapters selected as finalists in the National Chapter Award program!

Final award rankings, along with the chapters advancing to national judging, will be announced during the 1st General Session of the 97th North Dakota FFA Convention on June 1 at 7:30 PM. We can’t wait to celebrate the outstanding work happening across North Dakota FFA chapters!

Congratulations to our seniors for graduating today! Aly and Brayleigh have been dedicated to the chapter serving as officers their senior year. They have made sure that chapter events have gone off without a hitch and left a lasting legacy in our chapter!

Let’s hear it for our 8th grade members! We recognized some awesome members at 8th grade awards day today.

First, we have our Evolve Award recipients. These students “planted the seeds” of their FFA journey by attending meetings, helping at events, and getting involved throughout the year. They showed that growth happens when you’re willing to jump in and try something new!

Next are our Empower Award recipients. These students didn’t just grow this year — they were the “cream of the crop!” They stepped up as leaders, helped plan events, volunteered their time, and went above and beyond to make our chapter better.

A huge thank you to grafton.floral for welcoming our botany students and helping them learn all about creating beautiful planters using the “thriller, filler, spiller” method! 🌸🌿

Students had the opportunity to explore different plant varieties, ask questions, and pick out colorful combinations that will soon brighten up the front of northvalley.ctc.

We appreciate the support of local businesses like Grafton Floral that help provide hands-on learning experiences for our students. Be sure to watch for lots of beautiful blooms coming soon! ☀️🪴

What an incredible way to wrap up the “Thinking Like a Prairie” project! 🌾🎨

Over the past few weeks, students explored the beauty, science, and importance of our prairie ecosystems through hands-on art and environmental learning experiences. Students glazed the plateware they created using native prairie plants collected this fall, designed stunning cyanotypes using local plants to create prairie scenes, and practiced botanical illustration while studying the connections within prairie ecosystems.

Friday was our messy masterpiece day as students created native seed bombs using Minnesota clay and North Dakota soil — combining art, conservation, and restoration all in one activity! 🌱

We capped off the project with a prairie-inspired dinner and art show featuring delicious bison burgers and an incredible display of student creativity. It was amazing to celebrate the hard work, collaboration, and learning that took place throughout this project.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this experience possible and to our students for fully embracing the spirit of “thinking like a prairie!” 🌾💚
