Sap is running in our experiment buckets. Greenline is 5/16 at 4 feet facing the sun. Blue line is 3/16 on the shade side of the tree at 4 feet. Will be making sugar on Monday.

The season has started. From the buckets this morning to
Maple sugar this afternoon. Today’s lesson was about small maple water removal. From two buckets we gathered. Pour off the liquid and tested it a 8% sugar content. Melted the ice half way tested it at 4%. Then melted the rest of the ice that effectively tested 0%. Only about 1/3 would need to be processed through an RO. By 1 o’clock we had sugar that was ground into sugar topping.
