🫏🌴HOSANNA!!!!

Core Truths of Palm Sunday:
• The King of Peace: Jesus intentionally entered Jerusalem to face death, embodying a "peace parade" rather than a political, violent conquest, fulfilling prophecy.
• A Misunderstood Messiah: While the crowd waved palm branches—a historical symbol of Jewish victory/nationalism—they desired a political hero. Jesus came to offer spiritual salvation, not immediate physical freedom from Rome.
• Temporary Applause: The same crowd that cheered him soon demanded his crucifixion, highlighting the fickle nature of popular acclaim versus the purposeful mission of Christ.
• The Start of Holy Week: The palms are symbols of victory, but the day serves as the final, direct turn towards the trials, betrayal, and pain of Good Friday.
• Symbolic Meaning: Palms represent victory and are often kept to be burned for ashes to be used on the following year's Ash Wednesday.

Classroom Snippets from last week:

🍇 Jesus is the Vine, Scripture study - John 15:5.
Discussion included what happens when we think we can go our own way and we don't rely on God. We were blessed with some plant cuttings that helped drive that point home. (And an excellent opportunity to learn to propagate!)

📚In history, students are studying Sacajawea, the Louisiana Purchase, the War of 1812, the state of Louisiana and the Star-Spangled Banner. (A little Jazz music and red beans and rice wrapped up the week nicely!)

🧪 In science, students learned about plants and their needs, and started a seed experiment.

✏️ Classroom Snippets:

• The second graders continue to love the BananaGrams and spelling tiles.
• We did some fun experiments in science this week. We learned about water and what is good for soaking things up and what things do not soak up water well.
• In history, we continued to read about the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson and the Revolutionary War. Students had fun writing their “John Hancock” using feathers!
