Digital Classroom Returns March 7!

Hey everyone....I am getting ready to start making videos again.

I had to take a little break to take care of some things.
As those of you who follow my page know, I am a huge fan of the flipped classroom concept for all classes, so I have been recording video lessons for a new set of classes that I have had to teach this year. In doing that, I have also found a few things that I want do as tutorial videos for all of you.

Thanks for your patience. I am really excited to get started with this again!

Want your students to write....look at blogging as a way to get students to write about things that are interesting to them. Not only can you promote writing skills, you can promote opportunities for students to share their ideas and look at possible creative outlets as they get older.

Tying into my video from Tuesday.....YouTube has a large selection of novels on audio book that are free access.

What are your thoughts on students using audio books for school?

If you are still using reflection as part of your weekly lessons, here is a great resource with some good reflection questions for students to focus on your content and their learning.

Ask your students a question or two to help prompt reflection in or after class, to encourage student-led learning.

Project-based Learning and Technology go hand-in-hand:

Use your LMS to control pacing
Office 365 and Google Suite to encourage collaboration
Teach students how to conduct effective searches (a skill that most students are lacking)
Students record learning, develop strategies and solutions
Encourage Creativity
Use Power Point to deliver effective presentations

Teacher Tip to Monitor Student Progress (Individual or Groups):
1. Have students create and share a Google Doc. (this works with all Google Suite and should work with Office 365 shared files)
2. Create an Assignment in your LMS and allow Google Doc submissions.
3. Have students submit the shared Google Doc on Day 1 of the assignment/project.

One key element of Project-based Learning is monitoring progress and understanding. When students submit a Google Doc, you can access any group through the LMS and see their up-to-date information and make comments to keep them on track or to provide encouragement.

Canva Tutorial
This video can be shared with students showing how to use Canva. My demo looks at putting together a movie poster, but there are many skills demonstrated that can help students with any type of Canva project.
