Thankful for this group and the help they gave John Preheim. John had an amazing impact on students and staff. John was a teacher, a volunteer at GCS schools, and a fellow union member. His passion for education was evident when he came to speak to our building reps and ask them how he could advocate for them. ❤️ His impact on public education cannot be measured.
The following students and staff were recognized by the school board last night for their quick response to a visitor's medical emergency at GHS in March: Daphne Cid, Maritza Chavez Stahly, Brandi Smith, Gianni Rios-Santos, and Steven Peel. The students and staff saw Mr. John Preheim, a long-time local educator and GCS volunteer, collapse in the parking lot and they did CPR and used a defibrillator on Mr. Preheim until paramedics arrived.
One of Mr. Preheim's sons was at the board meeting last night and he thanked the students and staff who provided life-saving measures for his father. Unfortunately, Mr. Preheim passed away on April 19, but his son thanked everyone for giving their family time to say goodbye to their loved one.
