North Oldham High School Go Mustangs!!

North Oldham High School, nestled in Goshen, Kentucky, has distinguished itself as one of the top-scoring high schools in Kentucky on many standardized assessments particularly the ACT and AP examinations. Providing high academic standards and a vast array of athletic and other extra-curricular opportunities are two of the cornerstones upon which North Oldham was founded and in which it continues to excel.

🚀 Learning in Action at NOHS 🚀

Students in Mr. Norton’s AP Physics C class took their learning outside today for a hands-on lab exploring projectile motion.

Using air-powered rockets, students investigated how launch angle affects a projectile’s launch velocity, maximum height, and range—putting physics concepts into motion! 📐

We love seeing our Mustangs engage in rigorous, hands-on learning that challenges them to apply their knowledge, analyze real-world data, and think like scientists! 🧠

🏆 Shoutout to the Team behind the Scenes🏆

A huge round of applause goes out to NOHS Athletic Director Matt Walker and Athletic Administrative Assistant Meredith Ammons for their incredible work preparing for our first home football game of the season! 🏈🎉

From scheduling and logistics to making sure the field looked absolutely pristine, these two put in countless hours behind the scenes so our student-athletes, coaches, and fans could enjoy a first-class game day experience. Their teamwork and dedication to getting every detail right—big and small—truly made the difference.

Thank you, Matt and Meredith, for your hard work and commitment to our athletics program. Because of you, the season kicked off on the right foot! 👏

📜 History Comes to Life at NOHS!

NOHS sophomores in Mr. Cardwell’s classes recently dug into primary source records to investigate the realities of child labor during the Gilded Age. Working collaboratively, students identified major historical trends, created their own categories, connected those categories to specific evidence, and then used the evidence to construct a compelling argument about the impact of child labor laws—or the lack thereof—on people’s lives.

This wasn’t just about learning what happened in history—it was about examining evidence, recognizing patterns, making connections, and building an argument about what those facts reveal about historical reality. Now that’s historical thinking! 🐎📚

🎉Round Tables in Action 🎉

All EIGHT Freshman Experience classes at NOHS got the chance to hear directly from our administrators and counselors today! 🗣️

Leading up to the event, students collaborated to craft thoughtful, open-ended questions in order to get to know their principal, assistant principals, and counselors--and to better understand the NOHS community and students' role in it.

We appreciate our Freshman Experience teachers preparing students for this event, and we thank our administrators and counselors for taking the time to share their insight and perspective with our 9th-graders. 👏

A huge shout-out goes to Ms. Berch for the creative, student-centered start to the year in AP Seminar!

Having new students learn from last year's sophomores' advice videos—then sort their Post-It takeaways into the four lenses (social/cultural, ethical, temporal, scientific/methodological)—is such a smart way to build both community and academic skills right out of the gate. 🎥

Today's Hot Potato activity on defining the American Dream had students building on each other's thinking in writing and in real time. This activity sparked exactly the kind of collaborative, layered discussion AP Seminar is all about.

Today, we’re celebrating two incredible members of the North Oldham High School family who truly embody what it means to be a Magnificent Mustang!

🏑 Student Mustang: Junior Catie Howard
Catie recently scored a goal against Ballard, but her accomplishments extend far beyond the soccer field. She has never missed a day of school, consistently works hard in every class, and—just as importantly—treats everyone she meets with kindness. Her positive attitude and genuine care for her fellow Mustangs make NOHS a better place every day. 💙

🌟 Staff Mustang: Mrs. Tricia Lyons
Mrs. Lyons brings a positive, can-do attitude to everything she does. Her welcoming spirit makes her a trusted and valued person for both students and staff. She is always ready to help, encourage, and make a difference—and we are so grateful that she is an integral part of our NOHS family! 🐎
