Elkhart County IN Extension Homemakers

Members of the Elkhart County Extension Homemakers met this evening in Maple Hall for the annual Officers Training. They were also happy to participate in the installation ceremony for 4 of the 6 new Board Members for 2026-2027. Those installed were Lisa Stephens - Advisor, Sherry Weaver - President , Stephanie McIntosh Szabo - Vice President, and Jill Cohen - Assistant Treasurer. New Board Members that were not present were Nikki Stump - Secretary and Susan Rowe - Treasurer. Ladies attending learned about their leadership positions for their clubs, as well as hearing about all the exciting things the clubs in our organization did over the past year.

The members of the Modern Homemakers met this evening for their year-end carry-in. The food and fellowship were great as always. Joanne Holtzinger brought a sweet treat from India called Soan Paddi. Everyone commented on how good it tasted. Joanne then gave a presentation on the Tamari balls that she makes. The designs can be very intricate or somewhat simple, but they are all beautiful!

Clinton Classics and Creative Circle held a Club-to-Club Exchange “Cooking Show” on Tuesday, May 26. There was some learning, some laughter, and a lot of fun.

The Past County Presidents’ breakfast was held this morning at the Extension Office. Delicious food was prepared by Michelle Blough, Cheryl Gall, Kathy Stolzfus, and Martha Weirich. Two of our past presidents in attendance were also state presidents-Barbara Jewett and Beverly Earnhart. We heard a presentation from Teresa Wells of Hex Rural club about Quilts of Valor which several of our homemakers are a part of.

Creative Homemakers had special guests, Carrie and Rachel, from Spa Ministries visit their club and share about this awesome ministry for women who are suffering from substance abuse, domestic violence, trafficking, and other issues. The club collected donations for them.

Elkhart County Extension Homemakers attended the Michigan City Spring District Meeting in Starke County today. We heard reports from state president Cathy Wilkymacky, state president elect Michelle Roberts, and state vice-president Debi Green. There was a presentation by Closet of Grace out of Walkerton, Indiana. Michelle Blough was recognized for her four years of service as Michigan City District Representative and Deb Pepple was approved to be the next DR beginning in July.

The Four Seasons Club visited the Paper Craft Crew on Saturday morning for a club-to-club visit. After the business meeting, the members shared a craft day with each person worked on a craft of their own choosing. Refreshments were served and everyone had a great Saturday morning!

We received some additional photos from the Club-to-Club meeting of Busy Homemakers and Friends and Neighbors extension clubs. These ladies really enjoyed their combined meeting made special by sharing a soup and salad meal, playing games, and making a craft.
