This is a fantastic opportunity for Maine readers and educators.

The Lighthouse Book Award for Nonfiction is accepting applications for committee members. This new student Maine book award recognizes quality nonfiction for students in grades 4-8. Students will vote annually for their favorite nonfiction book from the reading list.

The Lighthouse Book Award is seeking committee members who are currently working as: school librarians, public librarians, classroom teachers, and literacy specialists/ literacy coaches

Committee members should work with students in grades 4-8 in Maine and be passionate about reading nonfiction. The committee's work will begin in January 2026, and the first reading list for students will be announced in April of 2027.
