Recently Great Falls Home/School Connection 3rd graders got to work with Phaedra Schmidt, the principal artist of Mural Marketing, LLC, creating beautiful and fun fall-themed murals. The painted pumpkins and leaves greet students as they enter school each morning, and glow a little like stained glass during lunch in the cafeteria!

GHS students in their Health Occupations-Extended Learning Opportunity (ELO) seminar with Ms. Engling and Ms. Drury practiced how to "Stop the Bleed" with trauma experts from Maine Health. These future medical service providers learned how to properly apply tourniquets and pack a wound. 20 GHS students got hands on experiences and learned about paid training opportunities and future careers at the third annual Maritime Industry Day, hosted by Manufacturers Association of Maine (MAME) in Portsmouth NH. Virtual welding, metal shaping, 3D printing pens (pictured), and a tour of the USS Albacore submarine (pictured) were some of the many exciting activities students enjoyed, along with teachers Sally Gherardi and Catherine Paul.

This week, our 8th graders had an exciting opportunity to explore future career paths at Westbrook Regional Vocational Center! Students were able to choose three programs of study to attend mini sessions on, giving them hands-on experiences and insights into a variety of vocational fields.

A special plaque has been placed in the middle school’s Digital Exploration Classroom (DEC), honoring the legacy of Terri Dawson, a remarkable teacher, mentor, and friend who passed away this fall.

This plaque now stands as a lasting tribute to Mrs. Dawson’s extraordinary impact on our school community.

It’s only fitting that this tribute lives in the DEC, a space that reflects the spirit she championed. Events like STEAM Night, filled with curiosity, collaboration, and discovery, are living examples of what Mrs. Dawson believed in: that exploration and experimentation can spark lifelong passions.

Her legacy lives on in every student she inspired and every idea she helped bring to life.
