Students may be checked out between 12:30 and 1:30 this Friday, September 10 without being counted absent or tardy to attend the homecoming parade off campus. Only GES students are allowed to watch the parade on school property. We will shut down our parking lot at 1:30 to allow students that remain at school to watch the parade safely. [08/13/21]   What is considered a Close Contact in regards to Covid 19 Exposure and the Exception in regards to Wearing a Mask

Close Contact

Close Contact through Proximity and Duration of Exposure: Someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person (laboratory-confirmed or a clinically compatible illness) for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period (for example, three individual 5-minute exposures for a total of 15 minutes). An infected person can spread SARS-CoV-2 starting from 2 days before they have any symptoms (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days before the positive specimen collection date), until they meet criteria for discontinuing home isolation.

Exception:
In the K–12 indoor classroom setting, the close contact definition excludes students who were within 3 to 6 feet of an infected student (laboratory-confirmed or a clinically compatible illness) if both the infected student and the exposed student(s) correctly and consistently wore well-fitting masks the entire time.

This exception does not apply to teachers, staff, or other adults in the indoor classroom setting.

[08/03/21]   Please see the message below in regards to GES Schedule tomorrow. Remember buses will not run tomorrow.

The first day of school for all Smith County students is August 4, 2021. This is a half day for students. GES will follow a staggered schedule again this year to allow smaller meetings between parents, students, and teachers. We will be having our Open House during this time; therefore, please feel free to tour the building prior to or after your meeting. The meetings with your homeroom teacher will be scheduled by last name as follows:

M-R 8:00-8:30
S-Z 8:30-9:00
A-F 9:00-9:30
G-L 9:30-10:00

We are working with NMS to try and make a schedule that will allow parents with kids at both schools to attend these meetings. Teachers will be providing you with important information so it is very important you attend. If you have a conflict, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher for an alternate meeting time. Buses will not run on this day. As on other half days, breakfast will not be served. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me at [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you on August 4.

[08/02/21]   Gordonsville Elementary School has once again received a grant from the TN 21st Century Community Center for a before and after school enrichment program. You may apply for your student to attend mornings, afternoons, or both by following the link and completing the form. This program is offered to all students at GES and will begin on August 16, 2021.
