Westar Parents Are Showing Up in a BIG WAY!!

32 amazing parents, grandparents, and family members showed up for our very first Parent Connection Meeting, and we couldn’t be more excited for what this year is going to bring!

Tonight was all about getting connected, building committees so we can share ideas, and we are jumping into planning for our Luau. Watching so many people step up and say, “I want to help,” was INCREDIBLE!!!

We hope everyone is settling into an amazing new school year! Whether this is your first year at Westar or you're a returning family, we're so glad you're here.

Now that school is underway, we'd love to invite you to our very first Parent Connection Meeting!

This meeting is for all parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and anyone directly involved in a Westar student's life. We'll share what's coming up this year, ways to get involved, volunteer opportunities, and answer any questions you may have.

Not sure you have time to volunteer? That's okay!

Being connected with the PTO doesn't mean you have to be on campus. We have opportunities for every schedule and every talent. Whether you enjoy crafting, building, organizing, making phone calls, helping with social media, or pitching in from home, there's a place for you.

We truly believe the more connected our families are, the stronger our school community becomes. We'd love to meet you on Wednesday!

Message from Westar

Morning Drop-Off

Drop-off begins at 7:10 AM.

Gates close promptly at 7:30 AM. Students must be in their classrooms by 7:30 AM to avoid being marked tardy.

Follow all staff instructions while dropping your child off.

Students should be ready to exit the vehicle promptly on the passenger side.

REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE at all times. If your child requires assistance getting in or out of the vehicle, please park in the lot and walk them across using the crosswalk attended by staff.

PULL ALL THE WAY FORWARD in the drop-off line before stopping.

Do not stop to let your student out close to the gate when there is plenty of room to move forward unless directed to do so. Our goal is to get everyone into the school lot safely and efficiently without a backup on Westar Drive.

Students are able to walk safely to the gate from farther up the line, and staff are present to supervise and assist.

🚙 Afternoon Pick-Up

Kindergarten pick-up begins at 3:00 PM.

Grades 1–8 pick-up begins at 3:10 PM.

Remain in your vehicle, and follow all staff instructions to keep the line moving safely.

If you need to leave your vehicle to get your student, please park in the parking lot.

✅ General Safety Reminders

Please do not drive over 5 MPH.

Follow all traffic flow directions and signage.

Always use the crosswalk attended by the staff member. Do not use the other crosswalks during drop off and pick up times.

Be courteous and patient—your cooperation ensures a safe and smooth experience for everyone.

We know drop-off and pick-up times can be hectic and rushed. That said, our number one priority is keeping all students safe during these times. Thanks so much for helping us make the process as smooth and safe as possible!

🚀 Mission: Stock the Lounge! ☄️💙💛

Our teachers have been working hard getting classrooms ready for an incredible school year, and we'd love to help make sure they have a teacher lounge stocked with some of their favorite snacks and drinks!

Whether it's a case of water, a bag of chips, candy, popcorn, tea, coffee, or your family's favorite treat to share, every donation helps create a space where our amazing staff can take a quick break, recharge, and head back to their students feeling encouraged.

No donation is too small. If every family contributes just one item, together we can fill the lounge and remind our teachers how appreciated they are before students return.

Simply put, we're a group of parents, teachers, and school staff working together to make Westar the very best place for our kids to learn, grow, and thrive.

It's not just fundraising.

It's parents cheering on teachers.

It's supporting our students in meaningful ways.

Whether you have an hour to volunteer at an event or simply want to stay informed about what's happening around campus, there's a place for you in the Westar PTO.

📅 We meet the first Wednesday of every month immediately after school release. These monthly meetings help everyone stay informed about upcoming events, teacher needs, volunteer opportunities, fundraisers, and ways we can support our amazing school together.

No special skills needed.
No "PTO experience" required.
Just parents who care.
